As a therapist, I am passionate about supporting people to create the life they want. Through my years of experience, I have developed a collaborative, warm, creative and down-to-earth approach. I believe you bring a unique set of strengths and personal successes that we will use in our work together as we approach new obstacles standing in the way of your growth. My work is rooted in mindfulness and the understanding that "we do not harvest our inner crop on the same day we plant the seed" and I look forward to partnering with you in your growth and healing. When I am not working, I enjoy knitting. Knitting, much like therapy, is a process of creating something meaningful stitch by stitch.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session is a chance for me to begin to learn your life’s story and your reasons for seeking counseling at this time. We will begin to identify your specific challenges, how they affect you, and what you have already tried to address them. Having your intake paperwork completed in advance will allow me to review it prior to our session so that we can dive into the most important reasons for your visit. A majority of our time will be spent laying the foundation of our work together. We will also spend a bit of time reviewing logistics such as my practice policies and scheduling. I hope you will feel comfortable enough to identify and share your expectations of therapy (how it works), and one or two treatment goals you are willing and ready to work toward. It is a lot to accomplish in our short period of time, which is why it may take more than one session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I bring particular expertise in navigating postpartum, mood disorders, co-occurring disorders and other major life transitions. Regardless of what is bringing you in, I will approach our work together with creativity, authenticity, and kindness. While our sessions will always focus on you, I draw on wisdom cultivated through my own experiences as a seasoned human who has also navigated many of life’s challenges. I myself am a work in progress and you can trust that you will be seen and heard without judgement in our time together. As a mindfulness practitioner, I bring presence, curiosity, compassion and non-judgement to your care. I invite you to do the same. My strengths also include my desire and commitment to delivering effective and meaningful therapy. To make this happen, I spent a significant amount of time equipping clients with information about their symptoms and teaching them how to get the most out of their therapy experience. Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I am a 'mindfulness practitioner' trained by Jon Kabat Zinn. At it's core, Mindfulness is essential to accepting what is here with non-judgement and curiosity. I bring Active listening, Presence, Curiosity, Compassion/self compassion and Inquiry to our work together. Whether you decide to have a formal meditation practice is up to you. Learning to cope with the stress of life on life's terms in addition to coping with the demands life places on all of us,is already stressful enough. I focus on helping you learn to 'ride the wave' of discomfort, experiencing more self compassion and acceptance in the journey.
