Welcome! I am the founder of Pawprint Pathway Counseling, PLLC and a dedicated therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience. Licensed in Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois, I specialize in helping clients navigate depression, anxiety, and complex trauma. I also possess deep expertise in supporting children and teens facing school difficulties, social challenges, and behavioral concerns. My approach is warm and eclectic, utilizing methods like EMDR, Play Therapy, and CBT to help you or your child find balance and lasting healing.
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, so I strive to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are—without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. My style is warm, genuine, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I believe the best therapy happens when we work together, combining your expertise on your life with my clinical experience.
I value curiosity over criticism, and while I won't shy away from challenging you, I'll do so with compassion and respect. I enjoy using humor when it fits, celebrating your strengths, and helping you recognize the resilience and wisdom you already possess. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, navigating a difficult relationship, or simply wanting to know yourself more deeply, we'll work together to better understand what's keeping you where you are and build practical, meaningful change. My hope is that you'll leave sessions feeling understood, empowered, and a little more connected to yourself than when you walked in.
Over the years I have worked with adults from various backgrounds and feel that my worldview continues to be shaped by my personal and professional experiences. This helps me provide a non-judgmental, affirming and positive environment for my clients.
Additionally, growing up in South Asia as a gay man and living most of my adult life in the United States and some years in Latin America, I understand the challenges of someone caught between two (or more) cultures and/or being part of a minority group. I am in an interracial marriage and understand those challenges as well.
I believe healing begins with feeling seen, heard, and understood. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I create a space where clients can show up as they are without judgment and begin exploring the thoughts, experiences, and patterns that shape their lives. My approach blends insight, practical tools, and genuine conversation to help clients build self awareness, strengthen relationships, and move toward the version of themselves they want to become. Whether we are working through life transitions, emotional challenges, or relationship dynamics, my goal is to walk alongside you as you create meaningful and lasting change
Out of my 63 years of life in this planet, 28 of those years have been spent assisting others within a diverse number of areas and environments.
Narcissistic Abuse/Antagonistic personality style partner or other person in your life? As part of my work with individuals dealing with divorce, widowhood, and coparenting, I provide care and assistance for individuals directly or indirectly involved in relationship with an individual who displays behaviors which may indicate a narcissistic or antagonistic personality style. Note: It is neither possible or ethical for a provider to diagnose an individual who has not come in for assessment/diagnosis/treatment. However, a provider can work with an individual to learn to cope and navigate difficult relationships with difficult individuals. In addition to individual in partner relationships with such an individual, I also work with family members who are struggling with how to relate, support, and cope with a loved one who appears to be entangled in such a relationship. Complex circumstances need to be considered in deciding whether to remain in the relationship or to consider it's necessary to consider leaving. For folks who have separated or divorced from such a situation, the recovery and aftermath intervention and support is often needed on order to heal, restore, and recover. If children and the courts are involved, there are additional areas to address. I also provide care for adults who are highly intelligent and possibly/likely on the spectrum. Regardless of or whether an adult is diagnosable with autism, being highly intelligent can present with social and emotional challenges. On the side, I enjoy writing, performing, teaching, and recording music, both vocal and guitar. I have been teaching/empowering "non-singers" to sing for over 30 years with a therapeutic program I have developed called "Singing in the Shower."

First, please take a moment to acknowledge you've taken the first step towards bettering your mental health because, let's be honest - starting therapy can be empowering, confusing, or scary, all at the same time.
I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and many more. I believe you are the expert in yourself and I there to assist in this process. I see therapy like you are driving the car and I am in the passenger seat riding copilot offering new tools, organizing the tools you already have and providing a different perspective.
More than any modality of therapy the success therapy is dependent on how you, the client, feel in the relationship with your therapist. It is not something to tough out and I encourage you to work with someone you feel you connect with, can be open and honest with.

The field finally knows how to help you go beyond coping with your most difficult issues, to honestly resolving them and proceeding in genuine feelings of wellbeing and gratitude. I share simple, insightful principles with you that expedite your finding the answers you seek and making the changes you want - recovering your feelings of wellbeing and confidence. I am publishing a four-book series that outlines and describes this simple step-by-step system (recommended but not required).
Our sessions are relaxed and conversational. The process is less on expressing and examining your problems, although I take time to understand them at the beginning. The process is more about cultivating the ability to listen deeply to yourself and your inner wisdom, wellbeing and power. It will guide you to your answers and back to how feels and works best for you. Once understood, this is a free-flowing, easy and enjoyable experience.

I’ve always been interested in understanding people — how life experiences, relationships, stress, and challenges shape the way we cope and move through the world. Over time, I realized I found a lot of meaning in helping people work through obstacles, gain perspective, and feel less stuck in the things weighing them down. I know it can be hard to ask for support, especially when you’ve been trying to manage everything on your own. I want clients to feel comfortable being honest about what they’re facing while also working together to find practical, concrete solutions that help life feel more manageable and move them toward meaningful, lasting change.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and my Master’s degree in Social Work with a clinical focus from Capella University. Over the past 14 years, I have worked with children, teens, adults, couples, and families across in-home, outpatient, and telehealth settings. I’ve supported people through some of the most difficult periods of their lives, including severe anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, family conflict, crisis situations, and overwhelming life stress. Working in a variety of settings and with diverse client needs has taught me how to meet people where they are, adapt to challenging situations, and help clients find realistic ways to move forward.
I see therapy as a place to be real about what’s not working and figure out what needs to change. Some clients come in feeling emotionally exhausted, disconnected in relationships, overwhelmed by responsibilities, or frustrated by patterns they can’t seem to break. My role is to help people make sense of what they’re experiencing, develop practical tools that actually fit their lives, and regain a stronger sense of control, stability, and confidence moving forward.
Also licensed in Oregon, Minnesota, and New York.
With over 30 years in the helping professions, I have worked in many settings, including street outreach, community programs, inpatient and outpatient treatment programs, and private practice. I bring a real-world perspective. I specialize in helping people navigate the
difficulties of Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, and Grief. I also have a heart for women navigating the complexities of morbid obesity by providing a space free of judgment. We focus on the person, not just the scale. My background working in impoverished neighborhoods has taught me how people can build resilience and maintain it. I am a cradle Catholic and honor all spiritual journeys, should you want to bring that part of yourself into therapy. We’ll work together to untangle life’s hardest moments with honesty, humor, and a lot of heart.
