Welcome! My name is Lynsie and I am Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I am new to Grow and excited for this opportunity to provide services on this platform. The primary focus of my practice has been youth and their families, though I look forward to serving any individual who feels we may be a good therapeutic fit.

First session

My hope is that you will feel like you have been heard and validated in your experience of seeking out therapy. You will have a chance to share your story, if that is a challenge for you, that is ok, I can help with that! Of course, if you have questions there will be time for that too. Before the first session ends, we can work together to decide what we would like the next session to look like.

Strengths

I am a nerd at heart. So while we will do all the "typical" therapy things, I also like you to know the why behind what I am telling you or asking you to try. I believe that understanding the why helps understand how it can help and can help you decide if it is something you would like to put effort into trying.

Ideal clients

I am here to meet the client where they are at. If you are at a place to seek therapy and are ready and willing to receive a little feedback throughout the process, then we may be a match. I believe we set goals together and that they don't have to be done in the first session, nor do they have to stay the same along the way. I am a big believe in a growth mindset, that is something I will work hard with anyone on achieving.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In practice I really use a variety of methods, however CBT or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is what I most often use, aside from just getting to know you as a person first and foremost. All this means is that we can work together to figure out how your thoughts impact your actions and emotions. The best part is we get to explore how we can change them! This is not a one-size-fits-all approach, so not every situation calls for CBT, which is why it is very important to get to know you and meet you where you are at and not just jump right into the deep end of things.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

This is the "meet you where you're at" part of therapy. Where I get to know you as a person first. I am ultimately here to help you, in whatever way it is that you need, and that can't happen unless there is a relationship built on trust. Taking the time to truly listen to you and understand your experience is one of the ways I hope to do that.
