Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Minnesota and Missouri. I am licensed to diagnose and treat individuals struggling with mental health issues. My philosophy is that we all have the capacity to heal from within however sometimes our feelings and emotions can overwhelm us and make it difficult to find our own healing. I am here to assist clients in reaching their highest good in life.
In our first session I will allow clients to share their unique story with me so that I can get a better understanding of each clients needs. This helps in formulating a plan that will best meet each client's need.
As a mental health professional I have 30+ years of experience and with that experience I am able to connect with clients using a non judgmental approach. This helps to establish a rapport which is a necessary component to the therapeutic alliance between client and therapist.

Very often our our thoughts dictate how we respond to events happening in our lives. It is usually the negative thought patterns that can cause one to react in ways that might be regrettable. I combine CBT with Mindfulness to assist clients in looking at alternative ways of viewing a particular event and responding rather than reacting.
Very often we can get stuck on negative events from our past and these negative events can get projected or fast forwarded into the future. Our future is then based on these past negative events and this can causes the future to look "dark and scary." This can generate anxiety and depression or both. Mindfulness is about living in the present moment rather than living in the past or in the future which can consume your energy due to the depression and anxiety that can be generated. I assist my clients in developing the skills necessary to stay in the present moment and use their energy today to create the outcome that they want for their lives going forward.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy is a way of connecting with clients, understanding and valuing their unique experiences which allows the client to be their authentic self. It also establishes rapport and the therapist can then formulate treatment goals that are relevant to client's framework of thinking. Requires one to be open minded and non judgmental.
I use grief therapy to assist clients in coping with the loss of a loved one whether sudden or anticipated. I assist clients in allowing themselves to grieve or feel what they feel as opposed to suppressing grief which will eventually manifest itself as a mental or physical ailment such as anxiety, depression, chronic pain, insomnia etc. Also assist clients in seeking strength in memories of loved ones and in nurturing themselves during the grief process as well as engaging in overall self care.
I assist clients exposed to racial trauma by validating their experience and using these experiences to assist clients in engaging in self care. Using cognitive restructuring I assist clients in recognizing the nature of racism and how not to internalize racism to mean that there is something wrong with themselves. Finally I assist clients on how to achieve success in racially hostile environments.

This was my first session with Linda, and I immediately felt comfortable being open and transparent with her. I did not feel rushed or as if I was taking a survey. I felt SEEN and HEARD. I look forward to continuing therapy with her and would recommend her without reservation.

Linda is a warm and caring therapist. She listens and interactions are positive. I felt very comfortable because I usually find it hard to talk about how I feel because I feel as though I'm bothering the people.
