Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

After introductions I will go through informed consent and their right to transfer of care if they choose to. Then I will ask what brings them in for therapy and if they had therapy before. Next we will do an intake and later after that has been completed we will discuss the treatment plan. What do you want to achieve, what are your goals for therapy?

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have been counseling people for over 30 years. I offer clients my experience and expertise. Clients feel assured when they have a therapist that is experienced. I am a listener that is “present.” All my clients are treated with respect and compassion in a non-judgmental way. I strive to make my clients feel comfortable and build on areas of trust. I don't go on about myself I give clients the time to talk about themselves and what they need. Most clients are comfortable with me will talk openly about themselves. I give client's feedback and will tell them what they need to hear to help them in their recovery,

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My youngest client was 20 and my oldest is 92. I work well with all age groups. I find it particularly rewarding to help a senior person make positive changes in their life after living in dysfunction, emotional pain for over 50+ years. They never knew how their childhood trauma and hurts from the past effected their lives so negatively and that they can heal from that hurt from the past.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

By learning how your thoughts effect your feelings and behaviors you will learn how you can change a situation by changing your thoughts, feelings and how you react resulting in a more positive outcome. Taking control of your emotions instead of them controlling you. By learning how to recognize and change negative self-talk you will learn how to see things more clearly make changes and have a more positive outcome.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Also included with CBT I include trauma therapy for people who have experienced trauma in their childhood and/or as an adult. For people who have experienced trauma in their childhood I utilize Inner Child work by John Bradshaw. People that have unresolved issues from their past are effected by it in their behaviors as adults. Working through the hurts from the past is healing and freeing, the burden of that hurt is lifted and you are free to move on in your life a good way.

Christian Counseling

For people that have faith as an important part of their life I will incorporate Christian counseling in their treatment
