New to Grow
My name is Janis Allen, I am a Mental Health Professional, MSW, LICSW with over 16 years of experience in provision of clinical work. I spent over 20 years in providing parent education in the various school settings. I have over 10 years experience in provision of crisis services, intervention, assessment, treatment planning and connection to safe supports. I have spent the past 10 years in providing EMDR, therapy to assist clients to resolve distress and improve their day to day lives. I am currently in the process of obtaining Certification in Brain Spotting working with clients to access more immediate relief and improve interpersonal functioning. I provide Solution Focused, Trauma Informed Person Centered Care to persons served.
I will provide time to get to know each person I server , and encourage them to ask questions in the first session. I will provide and Comprehensive Assessment at the first session, with a discussion of goals for treatment. I would like to know in a persons own words what brought them to therapy and what their goals are and what they hope to gain from therapy. I want to be sure to hold space for the client and create a safe place to explore problems, discuss symptoms, and find out what is most important to them. I believe every person has the ability to change, grow, reach their desired goals and working togehter we can create the roadmap to get to the desired state.
I am supportive, caring, an empathic listener, able to discern what is not being said causing disturbance for the person. I have a strong ability to help others get back on course when they are avoiding, distracting or projecting due to high symptoms present. I believe there all feelings are valid and impact a person in a helpful or unhelpful way. I gently guide clients to explore what is disturbing their state of homeostasis and guide them to better self regulation.
I am best positioned to serve young adults to older adults, with life transition, grief, PTSD, Trauma, SPMI, Depression, Anxiety, OCD, or persons in Crisis. I have extensive training in Crisis Intervention Treatment, Crisis Prevention, Suicide Assessment, Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered and Trauma Informed care. I work with clients to increase self regulation, resolve distress and improve their day to day lives.

EMDR
I have practiced using EMDR for the past ten years. It is an evidenced based practice that provides resolution, relief and increased self regulation for persons who have experienced trauma.
Brainspotting
Brain Spotting provides a treatment modality to access deeper stored disturbances allowing the brain to process in real time and assist to promote healing. I currently use this method to access stored memories and help clients to resolve traumatic experiences, memories and increase self regulation.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP)
This treatment method moves ones thinking to a more positive plain of thoughts. I have used this in Crisis Prevention, creating a crisis plan of action, exploring positives a client posesses to create stepping stones to wellness and symptom management.
Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS)
I have used this method when working and managing a crisis center to assess for safety, explored needed resources to support recovery and create a Crisis Safety Plan to access with indentified supports.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use DBT modules with clients to increase understanding of rational versus emotional thinking, finding middle ground with wisemind, increase distress tolerance, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness and effective communication skills to increase a better life experience.
