Welcome! I'm a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) based in Michigan. I received my Masters from Grand Valley State University and have been practicing for 11 years. I help adults of all ages struggling with life transitions and anxiety work through complicated feelings to become the best version of themselves. I see myself as a coach and mentor in walking alongside my clients, offering feedback and support through challenging situations.
I have 35 years of social work and clinical experience, specializing in assisting diverse clients with issues such as stress, depression, relational challenges, anxiety, and life transitions. My approach is person-centered, aimed at meeting the unique needs of each individual. In addition to my clinical work, I am a life coach who finds fulfillment in helping clients navigate their challenges and achieve life balance.
In my counseling practice, I embrace an eclectic approach, drawing flexibly from a range of evidence-based therapies to best serve each unique individual. No two people are alike, so I integrate elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and solution-focused therapy—tailoring the process to align with my clients’ specific needs, strengths, and goals.
My style is gently directive: I offer clear guidance and structure while inviting clients to explore and uncover the profound wisdom, resilience, and worth—the true “gold”—that resides within their own hearts. I am Ruth Westfall, a licensed Social Worker, with 30 years of experience as a therapist. I am passionate about getting to know my clients and seeing them heal and overcome life's challenges. I have the greatest respect for those who seek support in order to make positive change in their lives!
After finding myself a single parent, I needed to find work in a field where I could support my son and myself. I was always interested in a helping profession as well as one where I could be involved in social justice. I graduated with a Master's in Social Work in 1995 and immediately found work at a mental health clinic. I worked there for 24 years in various positions, not only as a therapist but as an advocate for victims of crime. The pandemic caused such a need for therapists that I was able to branch out on my own and go into private practice, which I love! Since 2020, I have worked with hundreds of clients on telehealth platforms and helped them cope with the many challenges of these last few years.
I have over 16 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults as they navigate issues of anxiety, depression, grief, and more. I work to create an environment where my clients feel heard, respected, and supported. I believe that every individual’s experience is unique, and I tailor my methods to align with your personal strengths, values, and goals. My priority is to foster a safe and welcoming space where you feel comfortable exploring feelings, building resilience, and growing in ways that help you face life’s challenges.
My clients are a diverse group of smart, caring, and kind people who feel weighed down by depression, anxiety, ADHD, life transitions, or other challenges. Despite their many strengths, they sometimes struggle to build and maintain close relationships, face obstacles in their careers, or find it hard to achieve their goals despite the best of intentions. This can wear away at their self-worth and confidence, making everything feel even harder. Though therapy can sometimes feel heavy, it doesn't have to be all the time. My goal is to make it uplifting, engaging, and even fun—something to look forward to. Clients often describe me as calm, encouraging, nonjudgmental, and funny. I'm a licensed counselor with 15 years of experience specializing in depression, anxiety, ADHD, and relationships.
I am a fully licensed professional counselor with three years of experience in the field. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling and have completed two years of supervised clinical practice, followed by independent licensure over the past year. My clinical experience includes working with individuals in crisis, supporting postpartum clients, and assisting those navigating significant life transitions. I also work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, or those seeking a compassionate and nonjudgmental space for support. My goal is to provide a safe, empathetic environment to help you navigate life’s challenges and move confidently into your next phase of growth.
I am a licensed clinical therapist and Reiki Master Teacher in Michigan with 27 years of professional work experience. I use a unique holistic/spiritual approach, incorporating the mind, body, and soul as they all go hand in hand.
Since I was a freshman in high school, I knew that I wanted to be a therapist and help people. I never questioned it and pursued this.
After about 21 years, I really started to have an interest in holistic methods, spirituality, and exploring different healing modalities. I had some physical issues due to a bad car accident I was in when I was younger, combined with the stress I was experiencing. This really motivated me to learn alternative healing methods. I also discovered that I am an Empath.
So I pursued learning more about this and myself by really expanding on my spiritual journey, and wanted to share my knowledge with others.

I could list my degrees (MSW from USC), my credentials (LCSW, CFTP) and my experience (10 years of individual and couples therapy). Most of all I am a mom, a sister, a grandmom and a retired veteran. I understand life from many intersections. I know the stigma of seeing a mental health professional, but I also know that most of people that are in therapy seek treatment because they have to deal with people that refuse to seek treatment for themselves. I create a safe space to process what you have experienced, what you want to change, and what are your barriers to success.
As a duly licensed Clinical Social Worker, holding credentials in both Michigan (LMSW) and Indiana (LCSW), I bring to the table a wealth of experience and expertise in providing comprehensive support to individuals navigating through a myriad of life's challenges. Over the course of my career, I have dedicated myself to aiding individuals from various backgrounds in overcoming obstacles and achieving personal growth. My professional background is deeply rooted in aiding individuals facing a diverse range of challenges, encompassing but not limited to issues such as anxiety, depression, coping strategies, addiction, and addressing women's specific concerns, among a multitude of others. Through tailored interventions and compassionate care, I strive to empower individuals to navigate life's complexities with resilience and hope, fostering holistic well-being and lasting positive change.
I have over 20 years of experience in helping clients unlearn emotional and physical pain to make it possible to reconnect with yourself and others in a safe and empowering way. I create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere to help make therapy approachable and encourage feedback from clients as to what will help them feel most with the process of therapy. After discussing together your goal, we will decide on a the right treatment plan. I use Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) techniques to address each client's unique perspectives.

About Me
Hi, I’m a Licensed Clinical Master’s Level Social Worker (LMSW) based in Michigan. For over 26 years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals, families, children, and veterans as they navigate life’s everyday challenges and transitions. Many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stretched thin by work and family responsibilities, struggling with relationship conflict, or discouraged by low self-esteem. Others are parents seeking guidance as they support a child or preteen with ADHD, school stress, behavior concerns, or the complexities of IEPs and 504 plans.
No matter what brings you to therapy, I believe your story matters. I strive to meet you where you are and create a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported without judgment. Life can feel demanding and exhausting at times, and therapy can be a place to slow down, reflect, and build skills to manage it more effectively.
My approach is compassionate, client-centered, and strength-based. I use evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), trauma-informed care, and mindfulness-based strategies. Together, we focus on practical tools you can apply in daily life—managing stress and emotions, improving communication, building coping skills, strengthening relationships, and increasing resilience at home, school, and work.
I also have over 15 years of experience working with veterans, supporting trauma recovery, reintegration into civilian life, and access to housing and community resources. I bring a culturally responsive perspective to my work with immigrants and first-generation individuals, addressing identity development, acculturation stress, and family dynamics.
Whether you are an adult navigating stress or life transitions, a parent seeking support for your child, or someone working to rebuild confidence and emotional balance, I offer a safe, supportive space to heal, grow, and move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and well-being.
Greetings! My name is Brian. After years working primarily with individuals who were court-ordered to chat with me, I've just recently started my own practice to spread my wings and talk with folks eager to improve their situations without quite so much external motivation.
Some background information about me if you're interested: I attained my Masters in Clinical Social Work degree from Ferris State University and graduated with the highest honors. I've worked in housing and with those experiencing homelessness. I've worked with children in foster care and with the parents trying to get them back into their care. I've worked with teens and older adults and every age between, both individually and in groups. I've helped educate about substance use, adjust from violence and trauma, cope with depression and anxiety, and develop time-management and stress-management skills, among others. I'm proud of what I've accomplished thus far, but what can I say? I want to do more!
My name is Nicole Kowalewski and my goal is to provide you with a safe, welcoming experience working with you to reduce stress, manage your feelings, and grow confidence. I believe Irvin Yalom said it best when he said we need to form a unique therapy for every person. We are all unique, our relationships and experiences are unique, and in therapy we need to find your own path forward in life. We can find that as a conversation between two experts, you being the expert in your own life, and me being an expert in this field. Together, we can work to help you find what you are looking for in therapy. Whether it is a skill and action motivated plan, or a space to emotionally process things regularly, or anything in between.
I am a License Professional Counselor (LPC) I received my Masters from Siena Heights University in 2007
I am here to help and not give up on you. Be there for you and if we run into a road block. I am here to help you over it ,navigate you around it or get you through it. I am available and consistent .
I am compassionate, warm and easy to talk to. Add to that a decent sense of humor! I am also non-judgemental and I meet you where you are. You may need a listening ear and someone to help you sort out how you feeling. I can help with that. For over 20 years I have been helping people like you to find help and healing.
I identify as a Cis-gendered, Heterosexual African-American woman educated in clinical behavioral health, classical french culinary arts & trained in “Trauma Informed Yoga” (TIY) therapy, based out of Ypsilanti. I have a lovely Great Dane and Pitt Mix who assists in person therapy sessions. We live a life that prioritizes feeling good in our bodies. Diet and physical movement are a staple in my life as well as daily time for stillness.
Do you have memories you can’t seem to move on from? Have you experienced trauma that influences how you think and feel every day? Let’s work together to create a plan to alleviate traumatic distress and transform the way you are impacted by negative experiences. I practice a therapy recommended for PTSD-related symptoms called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). EMDR is an evidence-based practice in therapy where bilateral stimulation is used to desensitize and reprocess “stuck” negative memories influencing beliefs we have about ourselves, others and the world. Talk therapy is still a part of EMDR, but if you feel like talk therapy alone has not been helpful for your symptoms, consider scheduling a session together for 1 hour each. Clients report improvement in symptoms after about 3-5 consecutive reprocessing sessions together.
I believe in therapy as someone who has done my own clinical work since I was in my mid-twenties. I grew up in NJ and moved to Michigan to attend college and have been here since that time. I spent the first part of my career working in the foster care system with children and adolescents which I really enjoyed. That gave me a great foundation for working with the adult issues of attachment, child developmental stages that were not accomplished and struggles with current relationships.
I do a lot of work with people who were raised by narcissistic parents, people who are dealing with cancer diagnosis and those with chronic or life threatening illnesses. I work with people who are addressing childhood trauma, sexual abuse or emotional abuse. I have worked with adoptees who are seeking understanding of themselves and their past. I do a lot of work with individuals transitioning from a divorce situation and all the adjustments that this involves especially in coparenting situations. I find people and their life experiences fascinating and always worth unpacking and investigating to gain a better understanding of the self as a whole being; there is always something new to learn.
I have over 27 years of experience assisting clients with trauma, substance use, depression, anxiety, and codependency. My training includes EMDR for trauma and anxiety disorders, and I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am certified to work with individuals experiencing substance use issues, as well as their affected families and friends. I can also complete driver's license evaluations for the state of Michigan.
I am dedicated to helping clients achieve positive change and emotional well-being. With expertise in evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My goal is to create a supportive and empowering therapeutic environment where clients can explore their challenges, tap into their strengths, and work towards achieving their goals for personal growth and healing.
