Sharing stories can create some of the greatest bonds between people. In my practice as a therapist, stories have always been the foundation: they create a relationship of empathy and understanding, acceptance and change, which is able to withstand challenges over time. By telling stories, we can pick apart patterns and figure out how to break cycles that are not serving you. Whether that be with others, or yourself.
I specialize in helping people who are struggling in relationships as well as with depression and anxiety that often accompany these challenges. I believe that the therapist-client connection is not only a place to learn skills, but lays a foundation to create and maintain healthy relationships. I visited families in their homes over the years before doing telehealth visits on a permanent basis. I have extensive experience providing mindfulness behavioral therapy, solution-focused methods, CBT, and grief counseling. Over the years, I have learned valuable resources for stress reduction through grounding techniques using the breath and cognitive restructuring to produce a calmer state of being. I participated in an all-day training for clinicians to learn how to apply nature-based interventions and tools for individuals interested in this intervention. Evidence-based studies show how nature therapy reduces stress, heart rate, and blood pressure, and boosts positive moods. You can practice nature therapy in your house without having to go outside as well.
These times are urgent. Let us slow down.” ― Bayo Akomolafe
Let's take things one breath at a time, slowing down instead of rushing through the hard parts. I don’t believe in fixing or solving everything all at once in the hopes it does not reoccur. Instead, I offer space for curiosity, vulnerability, and connection, because that’s often where healing begins. Together we’ll practice being with your experiences, not just getting past them.
