I believe that each one of us has the answers to our problems inside of us. However, sometimes we need someone on our journey to help us unlock those answers by asking the right questions---things you may not have considered, presenting proven strategies, and psychoeducation. Although, you will make strides with the energy and effort you give, the number one predictor that one will improve is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. I hope to provide a place of warmth, compassion, and acceptance in which you feel empowered and free to approach any concerns. I am here to help you along on your journey. I am a licensed mental health counselor in Arizona, Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Utah. I graduated from Florida Atlantic University with an Educational Specialist degree in Mental Health Counseling. I also earned a Master's of Art from Roosevelt University. I have experience working with youth and their families as well as adults. The theoretical framework that I usually draw from is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I also apply Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing Techniques as needed. I address trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, interpersonal skills, self-esteem, anger, problem-solving, and decision-making. In conjunction with therapy, I believe that exercise, proper nutrition, and good sleep hygiene are an integral part of overcoming mental health concerns. Change, even positive change can be challenging and uncomfortable. I hope to provide the necessary support as a champion of change.

My treatment methods

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have 11 years of training in Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). In TF-CBT, I focus on providing psychoeducation so that client understands their emotions and learn more about trauma responses. I teach the cognitive triangle and relaxation techniques. I also provide examples of the trauma narrative and instruct client to write a trauma narrative.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have 11 years experience with CBT. Client learns about connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Client learns about habits, that, if done regularly, promote sustained happiness. Client learns how to identify and replace thoughts that aren't serving them.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I have 10 years experience with CPT. Client receives psychoeducation on trauma, writes an impact statements, learns about stuck points, 5 human needs disrupted by trauma, patterns of problematic thinking, challenge questions to challenge one's beliefs, and examples of reframing stuck points to more balanced, accurate beliefs.

Psychoeducation

I provide psychoeducation on mental health topics that client is dealing with such as trauma, depression, or anxiety. I also provide psychoeducation on feelings, behaviors, and tools that provide healing, coping strategies, and sustained happiness/improved quality of life.

Somatic

I use somatic exercises as a method but it is NOT my specialty. I provide a little psychoeducation on what it is and resources for guided somatic exercises.
