I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Massachusetts, where I received a Master’s degree in mental health counseling. I have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years, both in private practice and state agency. Using clinically tested and evidenced-based interventions, I have helped several individuals improve their life style, by focusing on the person and on addressing behaviors and negative thoughts that impact certain areas of their lives. Combining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Treatment, I help individuals heal and find balance in their lives. I strive to be sensitive to cultural differences and I provide therapy for both English and Spanish speaking clients. My practice focuses on the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health conditions that affect mood, thinking, and behavior. It also focuses in addressing stressors on the mental health of LGBTQI+ individuals and those with relationship problems, motivation, self-esteem, and difficulties with confidence.
In our first session together, you can expect a safe and nonjudgmental space where we will discuss your reasons for seeking counseling, your goals, and any concerns you may have. I will provide an overview of the counseling process and answer any questions you may have. Then we will collaborate on a treatment plan tailored to your needs for us to work through in follow-up sessions. You can also expect empathy, compassion, and active listening in the process. My goal is to support and empower you, in order to help you navigate your journey confidently.
Having worked in the mental health field for over 10 years, I've developed a counseling style to help you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges, (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress, and (c) help you practice self-compassion in the counseling process, as well as in life in general. Therefore, I feel that my greatest strength as a provider lies in making sure that clients have hope for change and improvement in their life while accomplishing this.
I've been using CBT in my practice for 10+ years. Through the use of CBT, we will identify troubling situations and increase awareness of thoughts, emotions, feelings, and beliefs while challenging any irrational thought patterns.
We engage in acceptance by practicing self-compassion, emotion exposure, mindfulness, committing to values and goals, etc.
Through the use of DBT, you will learn to better manage adversity, as well as to distract and sooth yourself in order to manage situations rationally.
We will focus on the here and now in order to identify steps that will help you move forward.
