Thanks for taking the time to visit my listing. If you've come this far, you're on the brink of an important decision--and what a difference the right choice can make. As a Social Worker, I've made a difference in people's lives for nearly 15 years -- helping children, adolescents, adults, and families to overcome life/situational problems and gain emotional freedom. Everyone wants quick relief; therapy is a process, which requires some hard work from the individuals who are participating in therapy. My goal is to foster an interactive therapeutic experience, providing support and practical feedback to effectively address personal life challenges. I offer a personalized approach tailored to your needs. With compassion and understanding, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns and negative perceptions that are holding you back while we build on your strengths to help you attain the personal growth you are committed to accomplishing. As such this will begin the process of healing, growth, and self-empowerment. Our sessions will have a single focus -- helping you to rise above your current obstacles . . . whether that means conquering emotional issues, overcoming blocking beliefs, or repairing important relationships in your life.

First of all, I love what I do and to witness the positive changes clients make in their lives as a result of choosing therapy to help them accomplish what they want. Often the goal is to achieve symptom relief so as to not be overwhelmed by anxiety, mood disorders or be better able to manage the challenges of ADHD. Sometimes there is not a specific outcome identified but a need for ongoing support for dealing with life transitions or difficult people. Sometimes clients use therapy as a confidential sounding board where they can talk to an objective outsider about situations and sort out their perspective. I offer various ways to see and respond to situations that might otherwise not be considered. Your opinion as a client is the most important one and I will also honestly provide mine when asked for. I believe therapy can actually be something that you can look forward to and an opportunity to learn new skills to use long after you discontinue, and we can even have some fun and laughs along the journey.

I am yoruba native from Lagos, Nigeria, with vast experience (8 years) working with children, adolescents, adults and families both in my profession and personal life in different capacities and environment. This includes, hospital, schools, private practice, Office of Public Defender, Forensic Services, social services etc. I have a passion to impact individuals and recognizes the importance of collaborating with different systems in order to spark and support change in individuals. While my therapeutic approach extensively integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I also encompasses cultural approaches into my practice with individuals. I believe that while biology makes certain individuals predisposed to certain behaviors, an individual’s environment plays a major role in determining who an individual becomes. I have both a Bachelor's and Master's in Social Work, with a clinical concentration and specialization in Children and Families. I hold a license as a LCSW-C in Maryland. I am also a board approved supervisor, and I have supervised MSW candidates that they embark on their journey into the field of Social Work.

I am a psychotherapist who works with a diverse population of people. My goal is to collaborate with individuals to assist them in achieving their therapy goal(S). My treatment modalities are cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and Ericksonian hypnotherapy approaches. Although I used these modalities, I do not use a one size fits all approach. I am a think-out-of-the-box clinician that will often challenge clients to try approaches that may be out of their comfort zone. Some examples of my experience include working with individual clients on developing skills in coping with mental health conditions/diagnosis, life stress, finding balance, and improving self-esteem. Although I use these approaches, my clients tell me it feels like we are having a conversation as opposed to feeling like they are in a therapy session. I have a specialization in working with Veterans, LGBTQI, men, and people of color populations. However, I work with all people who are seeking mental health services. I am licensed in DC (LICSW), VA (LCSW), MD (LCSW-C), and PA (LCSW). I have BS in Human Ecology, BA in Humanities from The Ohio State University, MSW from San Jose State University and Post Masters fellowship in mental health from Stanford University.

For most of my life, I have been lucky enough to somehow “figure it out” on my own. At one point in my life, I made a commitment to myself that no one should have to “figure it out” on their own. I am Ketty - licensed clinical therapist. Also a Black female and first generation American of Caribbean descent - if you know, you know. And I am here for all your stories because they deserve to be heard, and you deserve to be seen. In the last few years, I have had the opportunity to practice in diverse settings and at various levels of care, and I have found myself the most at home and energized supporting clients on their journey to self-discovery. I have had first hand experience with the challenges and added barriers that one may encounter simply existing as a person of color: at work, at school, and at home. From generations of unresolved trauma, to attachment ruptures and dysfunctional family dynamics to endless systemic challenges, you deserve a safe space for healing.   Glow Up came to be from a passion of mine to educate, heal and empower others to embrace their whole life story. An opportunity to refine the values and boundaries that allow you to experience the genuine beauty of relationships on your terms, and reconcile the painful experiences and devastating memories into intentional, purposeful and "whole" living.  Using a trauma-informed approach as well as attachment based and emotion focused interventions, we work together to identify your needs and your goals, and develop a personalized treatment plan that works for you. I am committed to providing you with the space to heal and thrive, to make use of humor and compassion, and to remain authentic and present every step of the way.

My name is Dr. Olushola Bakare, and my work centers on helping people recognize the strengths they already carry. Hi! I am Alyson Davis, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a millennial and military brat that grew up in Northern Virginia. Currently, I reside in Maryland and have licenses in both Maryland and Virginia. I am taking clients in both states via telehealth. For undergrad, I attended the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE!) and for my graduate education and clinical training I practiced at Valdosta State University. The therapeutic modality I use the most often is Narrative Therapy. Using Narrative Therapy, I help clients change the problem stories in their heads to preferred stories to improve their behaviors, relationships, and life outlook. With this practice, I enjoy using journal prompts, metaphors, and media. I am not a trained Christian therapist, but I do identify as a Christian, and enjoy using all religion and spirituality in my practice, but it is not required. I am LGBTQ-IA+ affirming and believe in honoring and creating space for all identities in session. A personal joy of mine is working with Black clients who are first-timers in therapy to work on destigmatizing mental health and healing the impacts of white supremacy. More specifically, I prioritize supporting Black clients who grew up in predominantly White spaces who did not feel "Black enough." My favorite problem to work with is when someone says "I'm stuck," to help a client not only get moving but move in a healthy direction. In my personal life, I am married, am a mother to a sickle cell warrior son, have a wonderful bonus-daughter and playful Aussiedoodle. That being said, I have an appreciation for working with blended families and exploring dating post-divorce. For self-care I enjoy writing fiction, listening to 90's and 2000s R&B, and watching romcoms. Looking forward to helping your healing journey.

With experience as a secondary school teacher, mentor, and basketball coach, I have had the privilege of guiding individuals not only in academics and sports but also in navigating life’s challenges. Over the course of more than 10 years in social work and 4 years as a mental health therapist, I have gained extensive knowledge in the helping and healing process, which forms the core of my work. I am a dedicated and compassionate individual who embraces multiple roles in both my personal and professional life. As a husband and father, I am committed to providing love, support, and guidance to my family. Professionally, my journey reflects a deep passion for encouraging growth and positive transformations in other's lives. My empathetic nature enables me to connect with people on a personal level, fostering trust and openness which are essential elements in building a successful therapeutic relationship. While all of us are complex individuals, I see each person as holding unique potential and strengths—like a personal "password" waiting to be unlocked. I am driven by the belief that everyone can become the best version of themselves, and I am here to help them discover and activate that potential. My approach is one of support, encouragement, and understanding as I walk alongside others on their journey to growth and healing.
