I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, proudly continuing a family legacy of service and commitment to helping others. With over a decade of experience, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including hospitals, home health, outpatient centers, and most recently within a K–12 school system. Throughout my career, I have considered it a true privilege to support individuals during some of their most vulnerable and transformative moments. I specialize in individual therapy and am now opening my practice to teens. My recent experience as a School Social Worker allowed me to provide direct therapeutic services to students across all grade levels, supporting them through anxiety, depression, academic stress, peer and family challenges, and crisis situations. This chapter feels especially meaningful, as I originally pursued my education with the goal of becoming a School Social Worker. In many ways, this transition represents a full-circle moment in my professional journey. I bring the insight, developmental understanding, and collaborative approach from the school setting into my practice, offering teens and their families compassionate, structured, and informed support.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free environment where the focus is simply getting to know you. Beginning therapy can feel unfamiliar or even uncomfortable, so my goal is to create a space where you feel at ease, respected, and genuinely heard. Even though our sessions may take place virtually, I work intentionally to create a real and meaningful connection so that you feel comfortable being present in the conversation. In this initial meeting, we will talk about what brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from the experience. There is no expectation to share everything all at once. You are welcome to move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I may ask questions to better understand your background, current concerns, and the areas of your life that may be causing stress or difficulty. This helps me begin forming a clearer picture of your needs so we can work together to identify goals and develop a path forward. While I naturally bring a positive and encouraging presence to sessions, I also recognize that many people seek therapy during challenging or overwhelming times. You do not need to show up with the “right words,” a clear plan, or all the answers. Therapy is simply a space where you can be honest about where you are and begin sorting through things with support. For teens, the first session is also about creating a space where you feel safe and comfortable talking openly. I understand that starting therapy may not always feel like your idea, and that’s okay. My goal is not to judge or lecture, but to listen and help you work through whatever you may be experiencing—whether that’s school stress, friendships, family conflict, anxiety, low mood, or just feeling overwhelmed. We will take time to talk about what’s going on in your world and what kind of support might be helpful. Ultimately, the first session is about building trust and laying the foundation for our work together. My goal is for both adults and teens to leave feeling heard, supported, and a little less alone as we begin the process of working toward growth, clarity, and meaningful change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to combine genuine human connection with strong clinical training and experience. Many people have friends or family who care deeply about them, but therapy offers something different-an objective, supportive space grounded in professional education, evidence-based practices, and years of experience working in a variety of settings, including hospitals, home health, outpatient care, and most recently within a K-12 school system. These experiences allow me to meet clients with both compassion and practical guidance. I approach therapy with the understanding that challenges rarely exist in isolation. Stress, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions are often connected to family dynamics, academic or workplace pressures, relationships, and identity development. Because of this, I look at the whole picture of a person’s life rather than focusing on a single problem. My role is not only to listen, but also to help you identify patterns, explore underlying concerns, challenge unhelpful thinking, and develop healthier ways of coping and responding to life’s challenges. My therapeutic style is collaborative, structured, and supportive. I work alongside clients to build practical skills such as emotional regulation, communication, boundary setting, and problem-solving, while also creating space for reflection, insight, and personal growth. I believe therapy should feel both supportive and empowering, helping clients feel more confident in their ability to navigate difficult situations. When working with teens, I focus on creating an environment where they feel respected, heard, and safe to express themselves. Adolescence can bring unique pressures-from academic expectations and social dynamics to self-esteem and family relationships. My goal is to help teens better understand their emotions, strengthen coping skills, and build confidence in navigating these challenges. I strive to connect with teens in a way that feels approachable and genuine, while also providing structure and guidance that supports healthy development. Ultimately, therapy with me is a partnership. You are the expert on your own life and experiences. My role is to bring clinical knowledge, perspective, and tools that help you gain clarity, build resilience, and move forward with greater confidence and self-understanding.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I don’t view clients in terms of being the “right” or “perfect” fit. My goal is simply to support individuals who are seeking guidance, clarity, and tools to navigate challenges in their lives. I work with adults and teens who may be experiencing concerns such as mild, moderate and severe (severe depression is for adults only) depression, anxiety, life transitions, career stress, and changes that occur across different stages of life. I also support teens who may be struggling with academic pressures, social or peer-related difficulties, low self-esteem, identity development, or adjusting to transitions at home or school. Adolescence can be a complex and emotionally demanding time, and I strive to create a supportive space where teens feel heard, respected, and empowered to better understand and manage their emotions. My approach focuses on helping clients build coping skills, improve emotional awareness, strengthen communication, and develop practical strategies to navigate challenges more confidently. I work collaboratively with clients to identify patterns, set goals, and build resilience so they can move forward in a healthier and more balanced way. At this time, my practice is best suited for individuals experiencing mild to moderate symptoms who are seeking supportive, skills-based therapy. For safety and clinical appropriateness, I am not currently able to provide services for individuals who are actively suicidal or who have experienced suicidal behavior or self-harm within the past six months. In those situations, a higher level of care or more intensive clinical support may be the most appropriate option.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my encounter with CBT, I've found resonance in Gandhi's words: "Your beliefs shape your thoughts, words, actions, habits, values, and destiny." CBT, to me, is a tool that facilitates recognizing and transforming our thoughts for positive change.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Being an African American woman, I feel a natural awareness of the shared struggles and connections among diverse minorities. As a therapist, my firsthand encounters with systemic challenges enable me to bring a perspective beyond what textbooks and classrooms offer when assisting my clients.

Eclectic

I adopt a diverse theoretical approach in therapy, recognizing the uniqueness of each individual. Embracing the idea that people are multidimensional, I've found success in employing a blend of theoretical approaches tailored to the specific needs of my clients.

Motivational Interviewing

I believe in the power of collaboration, applying the same principle to assist my clients in their healing journey. Providing genuine encouragement with a blend of positivity and authenticity, I stand alongside my clients, offering motivational support.

I've been working with Jazmyn I believe almost a year now and she quickly became a person I felt comfortable confiding in and coming up with plans to deal with life's stresses. I feel fortunate to have found her when I did, I'll be going to her as long as shes working.
