Hello, I'm Tracey. "Relationships often die not because of conversations that were had but rather conversations that were never had," (Lysa Terkeurst). Communication is the #1 most reported reason for couples to enter therapy. It is the "appropriate" way of saying, "he doesn't listen to me," and "all she wants to do is talk and talk, {nag}" or giving each other what I refer to as the "non-verbal abuse" {silent treatment}. It means I don't know my partner, or we can't talk without fighting. Yet almost every couple starts off communicating at some level. I mean, come on--you and your partner would not be a couple if the first date involved playing the "Staring contest" where the first one to blink loses. What we fail to recognize is that Communication is a form of Intimacy. And all other forms on intimacy hinge on protecting the communicative intimacy. So, what is that and how do I get some before we leave each other? Communicative intimacy refers to the deep emotional and relational closeness that develops through communication, where individuals feel understood, valued, and connected on a personal level. It is both a feeling and a process shaped by how people interact, listen, and respond to each other. It involves an aligned commitment to taking care of it and protecting it. So, time's a wasting and you both are out of options. You both need to commit to starting this before you commit to ending.

My approach is rooted in evidence-based therapies, tailored to support meaningful behavioral changes. Additionally, I work closely with parents and families of children with complex behavioral issues, providing guidance and support to help them create a nurturing environment for their child’s growth and well-being. In addition to this, I have experience helping clients through significant life transitions, such as starting a family, navigating college, or going through a divorce. My work as a therapist has grown out of years of supporting people in many different environments and stages of life. I’ve spent over 15 years working with adults with a wide range of neurodivergence and abilities, helping them discover their strengths, build confidence, and move toward goals that matter to them. I’ve also worked as a Career Counselor for the county, guiding people through assessments, career transitions, and educational planning. Along the way, I’ve supported individuals in correctional settings, helping detainees navigate mental health challenges, adjustment issues, and the emotional weight that comes with major life disruption. I also have experience responding to crisis situations, offering support to people during moments of intense emotional distress or behavioral emergencies. My approach to therapy is flexible and personal. I use an Eclectic, Existential style, pulling from Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, and Reality Therapy. What that means for you is that we’ll work together in a way that fits you — your personality, your pace, your goals. I aim to create a space that feels safe, open, and genuinely supportive, where you can explore what’s going on in your life and start making meaningful changes. supportive, where you can explore what’s going on in your life and start making meaningful changes. My values guide everything I do: trustworthy support, integrity, fairness, innovation, unconditional positive regard, and creativity. I’m committed to treating every person with respect and complete confidentiality. You’re not a set of symptoms or a checklist — you’re a whole person with a story worth understanding. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, seen, and supported as you move toward the life you want.

As a mental health professional for over twenty-five years, I am dedicated to helping clients explore options and strategies so that they may live a healthier and happier life. I provide compassionate care and counseling to individuals in Illinois, Missouri and Florida via Telehealth. I possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work specializing in Mental Health and Addictions. I also have completed a Master of Business Administration Degree focused on Healthcare Management. I am a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoy spending time with my family, fishing, camping and traveling. I have extensive experience in Leadership and Direct Care positions within Inpatient and Outpatient Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse Recovery and Rehabilitation facilities. As a result of those experiences, I witnessed and truly believe mental health and addiction recovery is possible. As we each experience our life’s journey, the good, bad, and ugly, we continue to learn and grow along the way. Many journeys will include troubled times resulting in anxiety, mood disorders, grief, loss, parenting difficulties, relationship issues, addictions and other challenges along the way. But most will also include exciting and positive times such as graduations, college, marriage, career advancements, births, relocations, new homes, new friends, and many more. Although positive, adjustment to these experiences may also result in a need for support during the transition. As a Social Worker, my approach will focus on the whole individual to identify other factors contributing to the current problem. This will include past and current relationships, health issues, work, living and social environments. My goal is to help clients find hope, joy and peace. They will achieve this by learning to view problems differently and using healthy coping skills to make changes and adjust to a new normal.

Hello, I’m Fernanda, a Bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Let’s be honest—life can be hard, and sometimes the struggle feels like a lot to carry on your own. I’ve had the privilege of working with people from different backgrounds who are navigating stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, life changes, and everything in between. Mental health doesn’t look the same for everyone, and therapy shouldn’t either. I don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. My goal is to create a space where you can be yourself, feel heard without judgment, and work together to find what truly works for you. You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. We can start wherever you are.

As a provider, I bring a compassionate, down-to-earth approach to counseling, rooted in my own experiences as a wife, mother to two wonderful children, and lover of animals. I understand the challenges of balancing family life, personal growth, and the stresses that come with both. I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Master's degree in Social Work and currently work full-time as a school social worker, where I have the privilege of supporting students through life's challenges. My passion for helping others extends beyond the school setting, which is why I am excited to offer supportive online counseling with the goal of eventually opening an in-person practice to further serve my community. In my free time, I enjoy watching my children play sports and spending time outdoors during the summer months. However, I also love cozying up indoors with a good book or favorite TV show. These personal interests help me relate to the balance of work, family, and self-care that many clients face. I am eager to expand my work from the school environment into the broader community, offering a safe, supportive space where individuals can explore their challenges and grow towards a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Over some weeks, we will explore your inner pursuits which will help you feel more comfortable in who you are and who you desire to be. For me personally, being alongside you, is a privilege that few people get to have, so I treat it as a sacred opportunity. I have had the privilege to work with individuals and families from primarily underserved populations and communities over the course of a 30 year social work practice in two great American cities. I have encountered child, adolescent and adult challenges ranging from trauma to writer’s block and wellness. I will partner with you to create the soft and more concrete changes you are looking to achieve in your life. My style is open, supportive and person centered, we will choose the approach for your situation using a variety of theories and concepts including art, movement, and EMDR.

My mission is to help promote healing from within, as well as emotional support, and behavioral change. As humans, we can get stuck in the past or future. As a truly empathetic, genuine, and nonjudgemental clinician, I can provide you with a safe environment to explore and process the nature of your issues that may be keeping you in a state of suffering. I have experience working with children, adults, couples, and families. I am trained in techniques effective with issues including mood disorders, emotional disturbance, family conflict, behavioral disturbance, anxiety, and many other issues affecting your everyday life. I have a special interest in experience working with trauma, sexual abuse issues, and PTSD. Using Trauma-Focused CBT, I can help clients acknowledge experienced trauma without negative symptoms attached. I accept multiple insurance plans and will work with you to find an appointment time that works with your schedule. Please call with any questions or to schedule your first appointment.

I understand life can be stressful. We all struggle at times and need someone to help us through. In my work with clients and families, I firmly believe in building on the strengths and resilience you already possess to help you get through more difficult moments. My attitude and approach to treatment is that while we all have our struggles, every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow as a person.
