Hi, I am Lynn Ford. I am a licensed clinical social worker who utilizes a variety of evidenced based strategies to provide you with the tools you require to address your treatment goals. My belief is that therapy should be client-driven and goal-oriented. I have over a decade of experience working with people of all ages, including children, but my focus has recently been on 18-75 years of age with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, grief, ADHD and communication issues in regards to relationships and parenting. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental, unbiased environment to empower individuals to explore their beliefs and concerns while gaining or enhancing skills to address their therapeutic needs.
Since beginning my career in psychotherapy in 2002, I have been driven by a deep commitment to assisting individuals navigate life’s challenges and realize their fullest potential. Over more than two decades, I’ve had the privilege of guiding clients through moments of crisis and transformation—whether they arrived seeking relief from anxiety, support in grieving, or guidance through life transitions. My approach is integrative, blending the humanistic clarity of client‑centered therapy with the structured, skill‑based power of cognitive behavioral techniques.
I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy, combining practical tools with a supportive, nonjudgmental space. My approach helps clients challenge unhelpful thoughts, build coping skills, and grow through empathy, trust, and collaboration.
Reaching out for help can feel daunting—I know it takes courage to share your worries or frustrations. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, low mood, relationship challenges, or feeling stuck, you’re not alone and your story matters. If you’re curious about therapy or how to start, I’d be honored to listen and support you when you’re ready.
Hello and thank you for taking the time to reach out! Do you ever have those days when things are especially difficult?? Many of the people that I meet are looking for support with mental health, substance abuse, and managing traumatic events. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Currently, I work with adults and youth, and I'm a strong believer in the mental/physical health connection. I also support a small hospice team in my area so am comfortable having uncomfortable conversations.
I believe in strengths-based recovery that looks at all the systems that can impact us. Bits and pieces of different models incorporated together tend to have the most benefit, based on the person's needs. I have seen so many great successes! I enjoy supporting the people I work with and going through their journey with them. I am currently licensed in IL, MI and TN. When I am not in sessions, you will find me hiking with the doggos, traveling with my social groups,, and going into "Mom Mode" with my three kids.
I look forward to connecting with you :)

Welcome—I’m truly glad you’re here. I bring a warm, grounded, and collaborative approach to this work, shaped by graduating with honors in my Master’s program and earning my Bachelor’s in Social Work with a Minor in Human Services. With 17 years of experience supporting at‑risk youth and families across Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri—and roughly five years in a direct therapeutic role—I’ve learned that healing is most powerful when mind, body, and spirit are invited into the process.
My background includes specialized training in DBT, ASIST, trauma‑responsive care, and emerging work with elders through grief support and medical assessments. My practice continues to expand as I deepen my understanding of military culture and the unique stressors faced by Service Members, Veterans, and their families. I integrate training in reintegration support, deployment‑related stress, and identity transitions to help military‑connected clients navigate life with clarity and strength. I am honored to now offer supportive therapeutic services to clients in the state of Virginia.
As a Licensed Massage Therapist, Somatic Therapy remains one of my first passions and is available for in‑person sessions. This body‑based approach helps clients release stored tension, regulate the nervous system, and reconnect with the wisdom of their physical and emotional selves. When the body softens, the mind opens—and healing becomes more accessible, more intuitive, and more aligned.
My work is guided by a simple belief:
~When people feel safe, seen, and supported, they naturally move toward wholeness.~
It’s an honor to walk alongside you as you reconnect with yourself and step into a life that feels grounded, authentic, and spiritually aligned.

I’m Heather Freed, LCSW, founder of Freed Minds. I specialize in helping high-responsibility women move beyond burnout, overfunctioning, and self-neglect through holistic, trauma-informed therapy that supports healing of mind, body, and spirit. My goal is to help you build a life that feels more peaceful, grounded, and true to who you are.

Many journeys will include troubled times resulting in anxiety, mood disorders, grief, loss, parenting difficulties, relationship issues, addictions and other challenges along the way. But most will also include exciting and positive times such as graduations, college, marriage, career advancements, births, relocations, new homes, new friends, and many more. As a Social Worker, my approach will focus on the whole individual to identify other factors contributing to the current problem. This will include past and current relationships, health issues, work, living and social environments.
My goal is to help clients find hope, joy and peace. They will achieve this by learning to view problems differently and using healthy coping skills to make changes and adjust to a new normal.
Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Illinois and Maine. I have experience working with clients in crisis with severe mental illness to adults experiencing depression and anxiety with chronic complex medical conditions.
Coping with life challenges is not something you have to go through alone. Many people seek therapy for support, information, and new ideas on how to better handle the curve balls that life can throw sometimes. I believe that human beings are incredibly resilient and sometimes need assistance in recognizing their own inner strength to create positive changes in their lives. The therapeutic relationship should be collaborative, built upon both mutual respect and independence, and I hope to empower my clients to find opportunities for personal growth so that they can move forward with their goals.
I have been a great support to those experiencing significant changes in their lives such as new medical diagnosis or crisis events.
Be proud of making this step forward toward your best self.
I look forward to working together!
