Hello there, I’m Elizabeth Jensema. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been practicing social work for 20 years. I enjoy helping adults struggling with their mental health and also those struggling with addiction. My goal is to meet you where you are at and to help you achieve goals that are meaningful to you. I like to have fun with humor, stay positive, and focus on moving forward one day at a time. I feel it's important to provide support and the reassurance that you are not alone, we are all struggling. I hope I can help you to feel comfortable and supported.
During our first therapy session together, we will discuss what you have been struggling with lately and what has brought you to therapy. I will also ask questions about your history to get a nice full picture. You can expect a very laid-back and supportive environment, I will help to guide you as needed.
I like to take time to get to know my clients and build trust, allowing the space and time needed to feel comfortable sharing openly. Over time, we will work together to set goals that are most appropriate for what you want to accomplish while in therapy. Most often I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients reframe their thoughts and emotions so they can move forward in a positive direction. I utilize proven methods to ensure you receive the most effective and up-to-date care.
I enjoy working with adults, both male and female, who are struggling with their mental health. This could include struggles with depression, anxiety, addiction, grief, relationships/family, vocational, life transitions, and stress. My approach is tailored to client's unique needs and circumstances. My communication style is calm, relaxed, and personable. I strive to provide a welcoming space for clients to openly share to their comfort level. I provide support and guidance while clients are on their healing journey, incorporating humor and fun along the way.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivation Interviewing (MI) in my practice. In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. With CBT, we'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. With MI, I will help you to find the motivation to make positive behavioral change.

I was feeling quite discouraged prior to our session today. Elizabeth encouraged me by looking at my successes and helping me to see solutions .
