I possess a longstanding interest in mental health and its impact on individuals, families, and communities. Over the years, I have collaborated with clients to improve their well-being in a variety of settings. My experience includes work at a hospital Emergency Department, a hospital psychiatric unit, community organizations, and a mental health agency. I have served individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and those experiencing homelessness and hopelessness. Additionally, I have provided individual and group therapy in clinical settings.
Counseling Philosophy
In my counseling practice, I believe successful results come through collaboration and intentional effort. The client, as the expert in their own life, takes an active role in treatment by investing their time. The client decides what their best outcome is and together, we ensure the process continues to move forward. Empowering clients by fostering self-awareness and resilience is central to my approach, as is making sure each person feels heard, understood, and supported throughout their journey.
Commitment to Client Autonomy
What sets my counseling style apart is my commitment to respecting my client's autonomy. For instance, I once worked with a client who struggled with anxiety and self-doubt. Through a collaborative approach, we identified the client's strengths and developed practical coping strategies. As the client worked through the process, they regained the confidence they once had and began taking steps toward their desired outcomes. This experience reinforced the value of a supportive, empowering therapeutic alliance.
In every interaction, I strive for the best possible results and lasting change.
I am a interactive therapist who mainly combines DBT with CBT to assist client with learning how to better manage feelings of distress. My therapeutic approach is to provide support, empowerment and therapeutic guidance to help clients address personal life challenges. I integrate methodologies and therapeutic techniques to offer individualized treatment to each client. I believe no one is exempt from life's circumstance and working toward mental wellness is something everyone needs at one time or another in life.
I want to help you make changes in your life and assist you in dealing with the difficulties you are facing. If you are struggling with difficult circumstances, life stressors or problems in relationships, I can assist you with making necessary changes. If you are struggling with depression, anxiety and difficulty functioning the way that you want to, you are in the right place. My clients say that they have noted improvement in their relationships, interactions and lives. I believe that people have the ability to change. I know that with the right assistance and guidance you can address the issues leading to problems in your life. Are you ready to take the steps and make changes to get the life you want today?

This is why I became a therapist.

Life can be quite challenging. Many times we are facing situations that we are not prepared for or have prior hurts that affect our ability to overcome. When we get into these places it is easy to feel stuck or even blind to what is really going on. It is easy to shut down and isolate out of fear of what others may think. I enjoy providing a safe, warm, and caring environment to help you pull down any walls or barriers so you can face the situation head-on. Many past clients have shared how I have helped them see things in a different light so they were able to rise above the challenges and grow during the process. The Reset Room was created as a safe, welcoming space where you can Reset, Refresh, and Refocus—at your own pace and in your own way. It is an honor to support you as you regain your footing, restore your sense of peace, and move forward with confidence.

Healing begins when you feel seen, safe, and free to show up exactly as you are. My work is rooted in creating that kind of space, one where your story is honored, your emotions are welcome, and your growth unfolds without judgment. I blend mindfulness, somatic awareness, and acceptance-based practices with an intuitive, heart-centered approach that helps you reconnect to your own strength, spirit, and wisdom.
I hold every session with empathy and compassion, but also with realness. I believe in truth-telling that heals, the kind that may not always be easy to hear but always comes from love and respect for who you are becoming. Together, we explore not only why patterns exist but how to shift them in the body and in daily life. Our work invites peace back into your nervous system and power back into your choices.
I walk beside those who are ready to stop surviving and begin living in alignment with their wholeness. You do not need to be fixed. You need to be met, witnessed, and reminded of the power that has always been yours. In this space, healing is sacred, personal, and deeply human.

In our work, I focus on creating a supportive, non-judgmental space while also integrating coping skills, emotional processing, trauma education, and exploration of patterns. Therapy with me is gentle, collaborative, and focused on helping you build understanding, stability, and self-trust.
I seek to establish a mutual understanding of the issue through metaphor and collaboration with my clients. Providing an unbiased view of the problem formation and explore its solution via the client’s own understanding. Welcome! Finding the right therapist can be an intimidating process. I'm here to ensure you feel comfortable, seen, and heard. I work with adults, teens, and children. Before making the switch to mental health, I was a pediatric nurse and have worked with young people in some capacity for close to 20 years.
I am a dedicated and compassionate licensed therapist with over 7 years of experience in helping individuals achieve mental wellness and personal growth.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. For more than twenty years, I’ve worked with adults, teens, and families facing trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles. My main orientation is Internal Family Systems (IFS), which I use to help people understand and heal the protective and wounded parts of themselves. I also integrate attachment-based and emotionally focused approaches to strengthen how clients relate to themselves and to the people who matter most.
I come to this work as both a professional and a person who’s lived through many of the challenges my clients face. I’m a parent who knows the daily strain of trying to be present for your family when you’re already running on empty. I’m a trauma survivor who understands what it’s like to rebuild trust in yourself after being hurt. I’ve dealt with painful medical conditions that have tested my patience, resilience, and faith in the system. I’m a husband in an interracial marriage, which continually deepens my understanding of identity, perspective, and what it means to hold space for difference with love and respect. And I’ve been both a therapist and a client, so I know how vulnerable it can feel to sit in that chair and hope the person across from you really gets it.
Because of those experiences, very little shocks me and nothing makes me see you as “less than.” I don’t view trauma, pain, or mistakes as signs of weakness — they’re evidence of survival. My job is to meet you there with honesty, compassion, and respect, and help you find your way forward at a pace that’s right for you.
I am a National Certified Counselor and received my bachelor’s in psychology from Silliman University and master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University, New England. I have years of experience working with individuals, couples and families from different cultures and backgrounds dealing with different kinds of life issues and mental issues. I have worked in different settings such as private practice, community, and school-based settings.

Hello, I’m Nichelle Reefer a person-centered therapist. My approach is warm, empathetic, and collaborative—I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to provide support, understanding, and guidance as you work through your challenges toward your goals. Together, we’ll focus on what matters most to you and help you move toward greater clarity, confidence, and self-acceptance.
“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become” Carl Jung. The choice to “choose what to become” takes incredible courage, strength and perseverance. To help you get there, we will spend time understanding what's keeping you up at night or weighing you down during the day. My aim is to fully support you on this journey whilst always honoring your personal identity and lived experience. I've lived in different parts of the world as both a child and adult and this helps me to be particular sensitive to, and experienced in, cultural/identity issues together with the challenges of transitions, be they geographical, career/retirement, or relationships.
I also have extensive experience of helping with addiction. It has been said that addiction is a "feelings disease" and whether it is a substance or behavioral addiction (e.g. gambling, food, spending, sex), I focus on addressing the addiction by resolving the feelings behind it together with providing practical support for long term recovery.
Therapy looks different for everyone, and we will collaborate to create a supportive and empowering therapeutic relationship tailored to your specific needs. My clients say I am warm, friendly, easy to both talk to and to confide in. So, if you are facing challenges please do reach out. And thank you for taking the time to visit my profile.
