If you recently lost coverage or had an insurance change, I currently have openings and can discuss options. My mission is to empower individuals to navigate life’s challenges with resilience, clarity, and confidence. I take a holistic, client-centered approach rooted in the biopsychosocial model—addressing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and environment to support lasting well-being. Drawing from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), I tailor each treatment plan to meet the unique needs of the person in front of me.
I am also actively pursuing certification in Mind-Body Medicine through the Center for Mind Body Medicine and frequently integrate these techniques—such as meditation, guided imagery, and breathwork—into sessions to support emotional balance and self-regulation. I work with clients who are looking to find purpose, meaning, and healthy connection in life. I work with persons struggling with maladaptive coping skills. Hi, my name is Luz, my pronouns are she/her/hers, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I worked as a teacher for over 15 years before making the journey into a community mental health career. I have experience in mobile crisis response, trauma, forensic mental health concerns.
To explain who I am as a therapist, I reflect back to my role as an educator. In the classroom, there was a movement for the teacher to be less of a “sage on the stage” (teacher-centered approach) and more of a “guide on the side” (student-centered). To me, therapy is a lesson plan for a learning experience. It's a guide to develop what the client needs to learn in order to cope with whatever barriers are showing up in the client's life, whether that barrier is an internal issue, such as self-image, or how to cope with work stress.
My therapeutic perspective is to provide empathetic, non-judgmental, compassionate guidance and support in an atmosphere of respect and safety while allowing clients to be the experts of their lives, much like “a co-pilot, a sous chef, or an assistant manager” of a client-therapist relationship. I use solution-focused elements to help move toward desired goals, cognitive behavioral techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts, and motivational interviewing to help gain understanding and clarity. Outside of traditional therapy, I enjoy the practices of mindfulness, guided meditation, aromatherapy, and Reiki.
Finding a therapist that's the right fit can be a challenging task, but taking that first step towards a healthier you is worth it. I look forward to working with you to help break down those barriers and make progress in areas that most matter to you.
I’m a warm, compassionate, trauma-informed therapist who works with women and adults navigating anxiety, loneliness, self-worth, relationship and family challenges, and major life transitions. Welcome

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 18 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I’ve worked across a wide range of clinical settings, which allows me to meet clients where they are and tailor therapy to their unique needs and goals.

I have advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Pia Mellody’s Post Induction Therapy (PIT), supporting clients with Complex Trauma, Childhood Trauma, PTSD, and unresolved grief and loss.
I also specialize in stress, mood disorders, co-occurring disorders, personality patterns, attachment and intimacy issues, and addictions of all kinds. My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in helping you move forward—not stay stuck in therapy.
At the heart of my work is a deep respect for the therapeutic relationship and a genuine commitment to your healing. If you’re looking for a therapist who combines compassion with clarity and direction, I would be honored to support you on your journey.
One of my favorite life mantras is a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent". Thus, I enjoy helping others embrace their power. One of the most impactful ways to do that is a change in thought process. It has such a significant influence on the way we react and the type of emotions we feel.
At times, facing life's challenges can be difficult. Fortunately, you do not have to do it alone. I'll walk on the journey with you, offering a safe environment we co-create that encourages exploration and growth. If you'd like to know if I'd be a good fit on your personal journey, please feel invited to reach out!

My goal is for you to get the most out of your time in therapy, to leave sessions with greater insight, useful strategies, and a clearer sense of what you can do differently. I know what it’s like to feel trapped by emotional pain. After losing my mom in 2005 I embarked on a journey through grief that made me the person I am today. The grief will stay with me forever, but I now have life lessons that I’ve learned because of it. I am here to help you. It’s often hard to admit that you are struggling and even harder to ask for help. You will never “get over” the person you lost, but you will find a way to work through the pain and eventually it will fade and become more manageable. I’m living proof of that.
I’ve been a licensed mental health counselor for more than 15 years, and I’ve spent my career helping my clients work through grief, cope with postpartum depression and anxiety, and find coping skills that work to decrease stress and anxiety. You don’t have to feel this way anymore. I can help when you feel like you are drowning in pain, and together we will navigate the journey to happiness.
I look forward to helping you heal!
