As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, National Certified Counselor, and Ph.D. candidate in Counseling with a specialization in Family and Couple Therapy, I bring a compassionate, integrative, and culturally attuned approach to therapy. I view mental health as more than the absence of illness—it is a state of well-being where individuals can access their inner resources to manage life’s challenges and thrive. In my PhD-level clinical work, I use Bowen Family Systems Therapy as a diagnostic and relational framework, while integrating trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and attachment-based approaches to tailor treatment to the unique needs of each individual, couple, or family. This multidimensional approach allows me to support healing from childhood trauma, strengthen marital and relational dynamics, and empower families navigating complex life transitions. With a background in Social Sciences and a master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling, I combine academic rigor with practical experience. I have developed strong clinical skills in assessment, multicultural counseling, and individualized intervention planning. Rooted in a strengths-based philosophy, I believe every client has inherent value and potential. My role as a therapist is to help clients tap into that strength with empathy, professionalism, and purpose.
In our first session together, you can expect a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where we begin getting to know each other. My goal is to understand what brings you to therapy, explore your current challenges, and learn about your personal or relational history—without pressure or expectation. We’ll discuss: Your goals for therapy and what you hope to achieve. Key life experiences, family dynamics, or relationship patterns that may be contributing to your current concerns. Any past experiences with counseling and what has or hasn’t worked for you. Your strengths, cultural background, and personal values, which I consider essential to the therapeutic process. Using a Bowen Family Systems lens, we may begin exploring generational patterns and how your family system has shaped how you manage emotions, relationships, and stress. I also integrate trauma-informed, cognitive-behavioral, and attachment-based tools to begin identifying immediate needs and areas of support. You’ll leave the session with: A better sense of how I work. A clearer understanding of how therapy can support your growth. A collaborative plan for next steps tailored to your needs. Most importantly, this first session is about building trust. You don’t have to share everything right away—therapy is a process, and we’ll move at your pace. Remember, this will be a collaborative relationship between two experts! You will always be the expert of your life, and I am a professional expert who will equip you with the right tools to manage life stressors.
1. Deeply Integrative & Personalized Care What makes my approach unique is the thoughtful integration of Bowen Family Systems Therapy with trauma-informed, cognitive-behavioral, and attachment-based methods. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model, I tailor each treatment plan to the unique emotional, relational, and cultural needs of the individual, couple, or family. 2. Rooted in Systems Thinking & Generational Insight My use of Bowen Family Systems Therapy helps clients uncover how unresolved family patterns, intergenerational trauma, and systemic anxiety contribute to current challenges. This gives clients the insight and clarity they need to break free from cycles of dysfunction and make lasting change—not just symptom relief. 3. Strengths-Based & Empowering I view every client as resourceful and resilient. My role is to help you tap into your inner strengths, enhance emotional regulation, and build the confidence to manage life’s stressors with clarity and intention. 4. Cultural Competence Meets Clinical Depth With a background in social sciences and extensive experience working with diverse populations, I bring cultural humility and sensitivity into every session. I understand how identity, background, and community context shape mental health, and I incorporate that understanding into our work together. 5. Long-Term, Transformational Results -Clients who work with me often report: -Greater emotional awareness and self-regulation -Stronger, more authentic relationships -Managing unresolved childhood or relational trauma -Increased ability to set boundaries and advocate for themselves -A renewed sense of meaning, stability, and personal agency
I am best positioned to serve individuals, couples, and families who are navigating the complexities of childhood trauma, relationship distress, and life transitions. My clients often include those who: Feel stuck in recurring emotional or relational patterns, especially those rooted in family-of-origin issues. Are seeking to heal from unresolved trauma and want to develop healthier ways of coping and connecting. Desire to improve marital or couple dynamics, rebuild trust, or communicate more effectively. Come from diverse cultural or community backgrounds and value a therapist who is both culturally competent and relationally attuned. Are looking for a strengths-based, collaborative therapist who will help them tap into their inner resources to overcome challenges. Value insight, emotional growth, and practical tools for managing stress, anxiety, identity concerns, and interpersonal conflict. I specialize in working with those who are seeking to change or struggling to change, whether they're in crisis or simply feeling misaligned in their personal or relational lives. My approach blends deep insight with actionable strategies, helping clients move toward clarity, connection, and long-term emotional wellness.
I use Bowen theory and the Integrative treatment approach (EMDR, DBT, and CBT) to uncover and address intergenerational patterns, emotional reactivity, and relational dynamics that maintain distress. Core strategies include: Genogram exploration to identify patterns of trauma, emotional cutoff, and triangulation across generations. Differentiation of self work, helping clients regulate emotional reactivity and establish healthy boundaries within relationships. Managing anxiety in the family system, especially where trauma or marital conflict has heightened reactivity and role diffusion. This approach is particularly effective for: Families impacted by childhood trauma, where unresolved systemic anxiety and dysfunctional patterns are often passed down. Couples experiencing marital discord, helping partners recognize how their family-of-origin dynamics contribute to current struggles. Families and individuals facing life stressors, enabling them to move from reactive, emotion-driven responses to more thoughtful and intentional functioning. 2. Integrative Treatment Modality I complement Bowen's framework with evidence-based modalities (EMDR, CBT, & DBT) tailored to client needs: Trauma-informed care (e.g., EMDR, somatic experiencing, or TF-CBT) to process childhood trauma and restore nervous system regulation. Attachment-based approaches, such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), to enhance emotional attunement and secure relational bonds. Cognitive-behavioral interventions to address negative thought patterns and promote adaptive coping strategies. Mindfulness and psychoeducation to support emotional regulation and present-focused awareness. This integrative approach ensures that: Treatment is individualized, addressing trauma history, current relational dynamics, and neurobiological needs. Clients develop both insight (via Bowen) and skills (via integrative tools) for meaningful, sustainable change. Healing occurs on both interpersonal (relationship-focused) and intrapersonal (individual) levels.
In my PhD-level clinical work, I use Bowen Family Systems Therapy as a diagnostic and relational framework, while integrating trauma-informed, cognitive-behavioral, and attachment-based approaches to personalize care. This allows me to effectively address complex issues in couples, individuals, and family systems—supporting healing from childhood trauma, improving marital dynamics, and equipping families to navigate life’s inevitable challenges with resilience and clarity.
