Marriage & Family Therapist | Couples Counseling | Postpartum & First-Time Parent Support
The transition into parenthood can place unexpected strain on even strong relationships. Many couples experience increased conflict, emotional distance, or difficulty communicating after the birth of a child. First-time parents may also struggle with anxiety, overwhelm, identity shifts, and symptoms of postpartum depression or anxiety that feel isolating or hard to name.
I specialize in working with couples and first-time parents navigating relationship stress and postpartum mental health challenges. I support clients through this transition by helping them strengthen communication, rebuild emotional safety, and develop practical tools that support both individual well-being and long-term relationship health.
Clients often come to therapy feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward together. In our work, we slow things down, identify unhelpful patterns, and build skills for emotional regulation, clearer communication, and deeper connection — both individually and as a couple.

I became a therapist because I’ve always wanted to help people through tough times. I saw friends and family struggle with anxiety and loss, and I realized a kind, steady presence can make a difference. So, I studied social work, got my license, and learned tools like cognitive therapy and DBT to support folks with depression, trauma, or stress. Now, I’m here to listen and walk with you, simple as that. I’m looking forward to hearing from you as we go.
My focus is on supporting people through depression, anxiety, trauma, and life’s tough stressors. I’m here to walk alongside you, and I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts as we go.
I might nudge you to notice what’s working, using a strength-based lens, or help you reframe a stuck thought with cognitive tools. If emotions run high, we’ll use DBT to ride the wave, or ACT to find peace with what’s hard. It’s practical yet heartfelt, like we’re building a toolkit together, tailored to you while honoring your pace. You’ll leave feeling a little lighter, a little more hopeful, and never alone in it.

I’m Dr. Claudia Nuñez a licensed clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience supporting adults through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and major life transitions. I believe therapy is not about reliving pain for its own sake. It is about understanding what your suffering has been signaling and bringing that understanding into the present so you can live with more clarity, self-compassion, and choice.
Many of the people I work with feel caught in anxiety and overthinking, people pleasing, guilt, burnout, or a deep sense that something needs to change but they cannot quite name what. Others are moving through grief or life transitions that have shaken their identity, relationships, or sense of direction. Some are navigating a spiritual calling or values shift, and feeling both pulled toward meaning and exhausted by the weight of it all.
My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in Internal Family Systems and liberation psychology. Rather than viewing symptoms or recurring patterns as personal flaws, we explore them with curiosity and consider how they may have been shaped by your history, relationships, culture, environment, and ways of adapting. Together, we identify what is no longer serving you, clarify what you need now, and develop responses that feel more intentional, sustainable, and aligned with your values.
Alongside talk therapy, I may incorporate mindfulness, somatic awareness, narrative exploration, and evidence-informed cognitive and behavioral strategies. Grounding and breath practices are offered collaboratively and adapted to your comfort—not to bypass pain or minimize the realities around you, but to help you remain present and build greater capacity for choice. My style is warm, honest, and collaborative. We move at a pace that respects your boundaries while supporting meaningful reflection and change.

My purpose is to provide a safe space and non-judgmental environment. If you’re ready, I’ll be here to support you on your journey towards healing!

Hi, I’m so glad you’re here. Reaching out for support—whether for yourself or your child—can feel overwhelming. My hope is that from the very first conversation, you feel heard, understood, and not alone.
For more than 12 years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting adolescents, women, and families as they navigate some of life’s most tender and challenging seasons. I specialize in adolescent mental health and maternal mental health, working with teens facing stress, school pressure, anger, friendship struggles, and identity development, as well as women moving through pregnancy, postpartum changes, motherhood transitions, and shifting family roles.
The teenage years and the journey into motherhood both bring profound change. They can be beautiful—and also exhausting, confusing, and isolating. I strive to create a space where clients can show up exactly as they are: overwhelmed, uncertain, frustrated, hopeful, or all of the above. You don’t have to have the “right words.” You just have to show up.
Before becoming a counselor, I spent many years as a Division I athlete and coach. Those experiences gave me a deep understanding of pressure, performance expectations, resilience, and what it feels like to carry the weight of high standards—whether they come from others or from within. I connect especially well with teens who are driven, competitive, sensitive, or feel misunderstood, and with mothers who are juggling more than anyone sees.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Riverside, my master’s degree from the University at Buffalo in New York, and completed my counseling credential at California State University, San Bernardino. While my education provided the clinical tools to do this work, the greatest lessons have come from the adolescents and mothers who have trusted me with their stories.

Are you stuck in conflict-with your partner, your teenager, a family member, or even within yourself? Do you find yourself questioning your worth, overthinking your relationships, or feeling overwhelmed with anxiety? You don't have to figure it out alone. Therapy can help you understand the patterns that keep you stuck and build healthier ways of connecting with yourself and the people you care about. I help teens and adults build confidence, manage anxiety, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change. I also help parents strengthen their connection with their teens while reducing conflict at home.
My approach is compassionate, relational and trauma-informed, integrating mindfulness, CBT, DBT, psychodynamic and narrative principles to support insight and healing.

I have been in the psychology field for over 20 years now. I love what I do and helping every client become successful. The relationship between the client(s) and myself is important in achieving the goals we set together. How our past experiences have influenced our current lives is a key issue. I feel that support systems in our daily lives are important to examine. The issues of separation, loss, freedom, dependence and independence are crucial to examine as one leaves home and parental influences. I work with individuals, couples, teens and families.
Every session is different because every client is different, as are their problems. I'll encourage you to talk and explore, in a structured way, your feelings and experiences. Whatever the technique or clinical approach, psychotherapy is not a magical cure, it is a process to help you find the capacity for improvement within yourself.
Psychotherapy aims to help you gain insight into your difficulties or distress and enable you to find more appropriate ways of coping or bring about changes in your thinking and behavior. Psychotherapy involves exploring feelings, beliefs, thoughts and events, sometimes from childhood, in a structured way to help you do it safely.
