Hello, I'm Grace, How can I help you? Was there a crisis, or an unexpected, yet, traumatic event that has happened in your life? Maybe you're just feeling lost, tired, overwhelmed, in shock, and just in need of some extra support. Maybe it was an ultimatum, "Either we go to therapy, or we're done..." that motivated this decision; or maybe you've decided that you're ready to start making some changes, or just want some help and support. Whatever the motivator, here you are... so let's get started! I'm a well-rounded and experienced therapist, with over 10 years of clinical experience and have been licensed for 5 years. I'm duly licensed holding licenses in California and Tennessee. I've been a child custody mediator, and specialize as a crisis and trauma therapist. I have expertise in the areas of sexual assault/abuse, and domestic abuse; and have worked extensively with at-risk youth and parents. I'm fluent in both English and Spanish.

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in California with over 12 years experience. I am passionate about and enjoy working with adults, adolescents, and children to help them with the challenges they face, including unresolved trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues or whatever is holding you back. I have vast therapeutic and life experiences that help me better understand what you are going through and how to help you. Life is difficult, complicated and at times even traumatic, but it can also be filled with great joy and fulfillment. What is standing in the way of embracing the life you desire. It is not always easy getting to the point of asking for outside help. I recognize and respect the courage that it takes, and I am here to help you. I am a “person centered” therapist who works from a strength-based model using DBT, as well as techniques from CBT to help you access all that is within you to heal and change. If you want to be in a relationship that last 50 yrs then communication and empathy has to be at the core of a successful partnership. This can also relate to a relationship with a family member, friends or co-workers. Sometimes our own mental health can influence all of our relationships, and you may need coping techniques for anxiety and or depression type symptoms. Trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, I am available to help teen and adult clients navigate trauma, anxiety, relational issues, and communication. As a first generation Eritrean American born and raised in the Bay Area, I struggled with a sense of belonging throughout my adolescence, often straddling the line between multiple identities and insecurities surrounding the idea of not being “American enough" and not being “African enough.” Early on in college, I took a psychology class that helped me further understand the human condition and its applications in my own life. I learned transformative concepts in terms of moods, relationships, and behaviors, prompting me to further pursue the field of psychology. Since then, I have taken it upon myself to get advanced training in various therapeutic approaches, which I believe help clients get the most out of their therapy experience.

I practice as a dual licensed therapist (MFT & LPCC) in Fresno, California and offer online service via Grow. Call me for consult at (559) 242-6670 or inquire at: Justin@Stargaardtherapy.com. I have more availability than posted. I contract on site service in Fresno area including group therapy and consulting. Before joining Grow, I served my local community in Fresno for six years with a local office and also provided on site therapy with sex offenders via containment model. I've worked with survivors of various traumas & family dysfunctions, depression, sexual abuse survivors, anxiety, life stressors, ADHD, co-parenting dynamics, anger issues, and a whole host of other stuff that brings one to seek therapy. As far as specialty, I am certified as an independent provider with California's sex offender management board and trained in areas surrounding sexual abuse, offending, and how therapy is rendered based on reducing risk. At present, I offer my expertise in this area primarily to parents who want to protect their kids, survivors who want to assert against future grooming/victimization, and to adults desiring to build safe and healthy sexual expression. Theoretical models I apply, include a cognitive behavioral model emphasizing using behavior to get the changes you want. In practice, I've found this model to be accessible for first time clients, offer a practical conceptualization of therapy work, and all while offering an ease of going "deeper" as work may incorporate childhood experiences, attachment, relational dynamics, and in room transference. When I work with couples and families I utilize a structural model which emphasizes getting parents on the same team and building a functional hierarchy for the family unit. I've seen first hand how smooth a family can run when mom and dad work together and own their home. Consults welcome 24/7.

In my experiences in working with children and their families in various capacities for close to 30 years has given me a heart for caring. I have been a foster parent, preschool teacher and director, a child development instructor at a communnity college for over 20 years and a clinical supervisor to numerous trainees and interns who became wonderful clinicians. I am also the mother to 4 grown children (one with ADHD) and the grandparent to 13. My focus has been helping those with trauma by listening to their stories and helping them make sense of their views of self. Through the use of EMDR, healing can happen quickly and it is so rewarding to watch as my clients receive the healing they deserve. I love to support parents in their journey and give them the confidence they need to be the best they can be. I've worked with countless children and adolescents in a county clinic for over 20 years and have learned how to help them navigate life's challenges. All this, along with my Christian beliefs, have inspired me and given me wisdom and compassion to do the work I love.

Greetings. I’m David Joel Miller, licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Professional Clinical Counselor. Before entering private practice, I worked as a substance abuse counselor and for my local County Behavioral Health. I specialize in helping clients navigate life’s transitions and overcome depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. After working as a substance abuse counselor and then a marriage and family therapist, I also completed the requirements for licensure as a professional clinical Counselor. I am also a certified life coach. I think of myself as an indoor mountain climber. I don’t like getting out in the cold and rain, but I do like taking on new challenges. I read a great deal and have learned a lot, but I continue to learn more things each day. Like most people my age, I have the frustrations of coping with technology. But one of my interns taught me how to answer texts, and now my younger family friends are teaching me how to use iPads and streaming videos. I hope that these experiences give me some insight into how things are changing and how some things don’t change at all. I’d like to accompany you as you try to work through your life challenges.

We may struggle with symptoms of mental health but that is just what they are...symptoms! And I promise, they can be managed with the right therapist and the right tools and support! That is what I want to provide to my clients, a safe environment for you to share so I can give tools and support for you to become the best version of yourself.

Hi, I am a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in California for 20 years and I hold a doctorate degree in the Philosophy of Counseling. I am in my second marriage for 29 years now, after my 24-year first marriage failed. We have seven children between the two of us, 31 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. I have had good success counseling couples who have given up on their relationship, especially those who have experienced infedelity. I don't counsel children until they are 18. I enjoy helping people understand how they became the way they are and therfore find ways to leave dysfunction behind.

I am an experienced therapist and University professor with a 40-year focus on mental health and healing. I am trained to integrate spirituality into treatment, if it is important to the client. I am inspired by the human heart and soul and desire for my clients to find relief, be vitalized by vision, and seek to live a vibrant life filled with love and hope. I value honesty and feedback and am open to learning what is valuable to you, how you desire to be treated, supported, and how you best learn and grow.
