Hello, My name is Cindy Hiett. I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. I received my Masters Degree from the University of San Fransisco. I have 30 years of experience providing counseling in a safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment. I never take for granted that it takes great courage to embark on this journey of insight and change.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be spent getting to know each other. A successful therapeutic relationship is based on understanding and trust. I will encourage you to take this time to focus on taking care of yourself and exploring what you hope to get out of our time together. I will answer any questions that you may have about our work together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I bring years of experience helping adults navigate significant life challenges and create a more meaningful life. I provide an empathetic, authentic and compassionate environment that supports genuine desired change. I value that you are the expert in your life and that I am the consultant. I have the skills and expertise to assist you along your journey in life.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I have considerable experience working with adults coping with transition and life challenges. I have more than 20 years providing support to both active duty military and veterans-as well as their families. I love creating a safe environment where one can share their dreams, challenges and their fears in order to create meaningful desired change. Those I work with are motivated to make changes but often don't know where to start.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Realizing that self talk impacts the choices one makes and ones overall self esteem and sense of well being, I focus on assisting clients in identifying automatic beliefs and challenging them to replace with more accurate and helpful beliefs. In using CBT, I work collaboratively with clients in an active and problem solving focused manner to challenge unhelpful and inaccurate beliefs using a facts seeking process to reframe thoughts and beliefs to be more accurate and helpful . In this manner one is able to make wanted changes and achieve identified goals.

EMDR

I am a member of EMDRIA and am trained and certified in providing EM?DR Treatment since March of 2000. I have used EMDR with clients when appropriate to reach their identified treatment goals. EMDR cam be heloul in processing trauma as well as helping to move past stuck points.
