Alicia Herrera
Hi, I’m Alicia—a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Latina, and first-generation American, with over 10 years of experience supporting clients through life transitions. I am passionate about helping women and individuals navigate challenges such as career changes, relationships, motherhood, and personal growth, guiding them to approach these transitions with confidence, self-compassion, and clarity. My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in empathy. I draw from evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, combined with a humanistic perspective, to help clients identify strengths, develop practical tools, and create meaningful, lasting change. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel truly heard, understood, and empowered to take intentional steps toward the life they want. As a Latina and first-generation American, my personal experiences inform my work and help me connect with clients navigating cultural expectations, identity, and family dynamics. I am committed to honoring each client’s unique background while supporting them in cultivating resilience, self-awareness, and a deeper sense of purpose.
First session
In our first session, you can expect a welcoming and judgment-free space where we’ll focus on getting to know you and what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask questions to better understand your goals, background, and what support looks like for you. Together, we’ll start identifying what you’d like to work on and set the foundation for our work moving forward. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the process ahead.
Strengths
What stands out about my approach is how collaborative and empowering it is. I blend evidence-based methods like CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy with a humanistic, compassionate style that helps clients feel truly seen and supported. My sessions are active and goal-oriented, but also grounded in empathy and authenticity. Clients often share that they leave sessions feeling clearer, more confident, and equipped with practical tools they can use in everyday life.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are women navigating life transitions—whether that’s motherhood, career changes, relationships, or personal growth. I work best with clients who are ready to understand themselves on a deeper level, challenge old patterns, and build a life that feels more aligned and fulfilling. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed or stuck, and together we work toward clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.
Treatment methods
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I often integrate Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) into my work with women navigating life transitions such as motherhood, career changes, or relationship shifts. I appreciate this approach because it centers on identifying strengths, highlighting what’s already working, and building small, achievable steps toward meaningful change. In sessions, I focus on helping clients clarify their goals and envision their preferred future. Together, we explore past successes and resources they can draw upon to move forward with confidence and clarity. This approach empowers clients to recognize their own resilience and take intentional steps toward creating the life they want, rather than staying stuck in what’s not working.
Humanistic
I integrate humanistic therapy into my practice by emphasizing empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard in every therapeutic relationship. My goal is to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. I focus on helping clients connect with their own strengths and inner resources, trusting that they have the capacity for growth and healing.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This approach allows us to identify unhelpful thinking patterns and develop healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges. In sessions, I work collaboratively with clients to build practical tools they can use in everyday life, whether that means managing stress, improving mood, or navigating relationships more effectively. I value CBT because it empowers clients to become more aware of their inner dialogue and make changes that lead to lasting emotional growth and well-being.
