Hi! I am a licensed Marriage and Family therapist, born and raised in the heart of Los Angeles, serving clients based in California. I support individuals who seek insight for change and acceptance through self-compassion. My aim is to guide you as you learn about yourself, and your impact on the relationships and world around you. Our time together is the safe space to practice, feel and process so that you are confident in your intentions outside of our therapy session.
For our first meeting, I request that you come authentically, as you are. I am here to learn about you, first. This will allow us to transition into a safe space to identify the change you seek in life and the specific challenges you are looking to address.
I incorporate cultural and multi-generational concepts because I believe that our core values and patterns are passed through kin. I practice interactively because I believe that we need to also walk the walk in order to facilitate change and/or create awareness.
I work with adults of all ages and backgrounds, utilizing the cultural lens and understanding the lived experiences. I will explore the themes of how we can respect our culture while being able to honor the change we seek in our own personal identity.
Christina Kam offers therapy covered by Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
My training in community mental health and substance-use has contributed to my training with the CBT model. I utilize the cognitive behavioral model (CBT) as an intervention technique to assist clients in identifying irrational thoughts and beliefs through psychoeducation.
My aim is to guide you as you learn about yourself, and your impact on the relationships and world around you.
