I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 30 years experience working in the field of behavioral health. I have experience providing direct service (therapy) as well as managing/overseeing mental health services that support adults and children who have challenges with relationships, depression, anxiety, and trauma. I also have substantial experience working with individuals and families who have involvement with the child welfare and justice systems.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, clients can expect me to engage and listen carefully to their needs, hopes and challenges. I listen without judgment and partner with the client to mutually develop a treatment plan. I also feel it is helpful for the client to learn about my background and approach. In the first session the client can also expect me to gather some initial assessment information to inform the treatment plan and to identify any need for immediate support and planning with safety/risk factors.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked in the psychology and behavioral health field for 30+ years. This experience has helped me develop perspective and skills working with a diverse population of clients with varying needs and backgrounds. I feel that my strengths are in my approach, which is calm, accepting, open and validating.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for many years. It’s helped many clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use a treatment approach that is Dialectical Behavior (DBT) informed. DBT is a model that can be helpful for clients with depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, self harming behaviors, and other behavioral health challenges. It is focused on helping the client manage intense emotions and challenging relationships through development of better coping skills.
