Hello, my name is Jeannie Umanzor, and I am a DNP prepared Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Prctitioner (PMHNP-BC) with 8 years of experience in the field. For the past 8 years, I have been dedicated to working in a federally qualified health clinic serving the unhoused population. I have encountered some of the most complex illnesses, addictions and mentally ill patients. In my role, I have had the privilege of seeing a wide variety of diseases and mental health disorders. My passion for mental health is unwavering, and I firmly believe in a whole person, patient-centered approach to care. This approach allows me to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to all of my patients, ensuring that their physical and mental well-being are prioritized. My experience in working with diverse populations has equipped me with the necessary skills and knowledge to address the unique needs of each individual I encounter. I am committed to continually expanding my expertise and staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field in order to provide the highest quality care possible.
During a patient's first mental health appointment, our primary focus is on understanding each individual's unique needs and circumstances. We start by discussing their goals for seeking therapy and getting to know them on a personal level. By delving into their struggles in daily life, we can identify potential triggers and develop an effective treatment plan. It's essential to learn who their support system consists of because having a strong network can greatly impact their mental wellness. We also review past treatments to determine what has worked and what hasn't, adjusting our approach accordingly. It's crucial to ensure the patient feels comfortable and informed throughout the process, assuring them that we will proceed at their pace to facilitate a trusting therapeutic relationship.
Having been in the mental health field for 8 years, I have accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge that have helped me understand and effectively address a wide range of mental health disorders. Throughout my years of practice, I have familiarized myself with various treatment plans tailored to each individual's unique needs, ensuring that patients receive the most appropriate care possible. Moreover, I have developed strong support systems and networks to which I can refer patients for further guidance and assistance. This holistic approach allows me to consider the patient as a whole rather than just treating symptoms. By staying informed about the latest developments in the field and continuously seeking ways to improve my practice, I am committed to providing the best possible care and support to those in need of mental health services.
As a mental health nurse practitioner, my goal is to serve adolescents to adults who have felt failed and misunderstood by traditional healthcare systems. I am here to listen, sympathize, and support you on your journey towards better mental health. It is crucial for me to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to express their concerns and work towards healing. I understand the importance of building trust and rapport with my clients so that they feel comfortable opening up about their struggles. Through evidence-based practices and a compassionate approach, I strive to empower my clients to take control of their mental well-being and live happier, healthier lives

I had my first session and it went well. I have anxiety so I was already nervous to talk to someone. She was kind and welcoming. She is direct and asks questions to understand why you are seeking therapy. And she also asks if you have questions. I didn't feel rushed, which was nice because I experience that a lot with doctors. It's nice to be heard. Thank you.
