About me

I am a caring and empathetic therapist with thirty years of experience working in county mental health. You may feel weighted down by depression, grieving a significant loss, or struggling to adjust to a major life change. Perhaps you feel exhausted, unmotivated, disconnected from others or unsure of how to move forward. You may also experience significant changes in your mood that make it difficult to feel stable or like yourself. I provide warm, compassionate therapy for adults experiencing depression, grief, life transitions, anxiety and other mood related concerns. Together we will work to understand what you are experiencing, strengthen your ability to cope and identify realistic steps towards feeling more stable, connected and hopeful.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session I want to get to know you and understand what led you to seek therapy. We will discuss what is happening, how it is affecting your daily life and what you hope to improve. You will not be expected to share everything at once. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you while beginning to develop a plan for therapy.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring warmth, compassion and patience and thirty years of experience helping adults through depression, anxiety, mood changes, relationship difficulties and major life transitions. Clients often find they feel comfortable talking with me and I am able to build trust quickly.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve adults experiencing depression, grief and loss, anxiety, major life transitions and mood disorders including bipolar disorder. You may be struggling with sadness, low motivation, emotional exhaustion, loneliness, mood changes or difficulty adjusting to a loss or change in your relationship or health, family, work or identity. I also welcome adults who have experienced trauma, relationship or family conflict, psychiatric hospitalization or other complicated life circumstances. I understand you are more than a diagnosis and I strive to provide a supportive environment where you feel respected and understood.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We may use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to explore how your thoughts and emotions and behaviors influence each other. Together we will identify patterns that may be worsening depression or making it harder to deal with anxiety or grief. You will learn practical ways to challenge unhelpful thoughts, manage difficult emotions and gradually reengage with the parts of life that matter to you.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

We will identify your strengths, what has helped you through difficult times and focus on realistic steps towards improvement. Small changes can help you feel less overwhelmed and begin rebuilding a sense of confidence, stability and hope.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My approach is compassionate, supportive and centered on your individual needs. I believe you are the expert in your own life. I will provide a nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, better understand yourself and make changes that are meaningful to you.
