Hello and welcome—
I’m Helen, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of what’s next, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity. I’m not here to fix you or push an agenda—I’m here to walk alongside you as we make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences together.
Many of my clients wrestle with perfectionism, anxiety, or a quiet sense that something’s off, even if they can’t quite name it. Through gentle conversation and thoughtful questions, I help you uncover patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and reconnect with your strengths. We’ll explore what’s working, what’s not, and how you can begin to shift toward a version of life that feels more honest, meaningful, and sustainable.
Therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical or intimidating. It can feel like exhaling. Like clarity. Like finally hearing your own voice again.
I look forward to meeting you.
I am a seasoned counselor familiar with adolescents, issues of personal development, empowerment, issues about personal power, overcoming fear, and identifying values. I value honesty, courage, self-actualization and altruism. I have worked almost exclusively with males. I see the world from a male perspective because that's the point of view I have experienced life through. I have spent years in the gym. I am a musician, and I play out somewhere every week.
There are a few high-stakes, difficult life situations I want to address here: If you are afraid of your child setting a fire, trying to get a gun, or stealing from you in plain sight, reach out. If your child is being bullied, I might be able to help him to acquire the skills necessary to hold his own in life. Finally, if you or a family member is being stalked or threatened by someone, I may be able to professionally assess the danger.
Hi, I'm Amanda, a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of Matrescence and Mind Therapy. As a mom myself for nearly a decade, I also understand the profound ways that parenthood can reshape identity, relationships, and mental health.
My goal is to provide a compassionate, collaborative space where clients feel genuinely seen, understood, and supported. Whether you're navigating anxiety, trauma, motherhood, life transitions, or the pressures of everyday life, I am committed to helping you build practical skills, deepen self-awareness, and move toward lasting healing and meaningful change.

I’m a business owner, a single mom, and a foster and adoptive parent. I understand what it’s like to juggle multiple roles, carry constant responsibility, and still want to show up well for the people who matter most. One thing I say often is “work on yourself first.” It’s one of the few things we actually have control over even when we feel as though we don't, and it’s also the thing we tend to put off. We’re busy, we’re juggling everything, and before we know it, we’re stuck in patterns that feel frustrating and hard to break. No judgment here. I get it.
I’ve been working with individuals and families as a therapist since 2018, with a background in healthcare prior to that, and I’ve spent my career serving the Fort Worth community I grew up in. I take a solution-focused, strengths-based approach, which means we’ll focus on what’s already working, build on your strengths, and create practical steps that actually move things forward.
My name is Rachel Portlock, and I have been counseling individuals for over six years. I am both a Professional School Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor. I believe that counseling should be a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where you feel heard, valued, and empowered. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, stress, self-esteem, motivation, relationships, life transitions, academic pressures, career decisions, or simply feeling stuck, I am here to help. Together, we will identify your strengths, explore areas for growth, and create meaningful goals that align with the life you want to live.
My counseling style is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs. I utilize Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-based approaches to help clients develop practical skills, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, increase self-awareness, and build confidence. I believe that every person already possesses strengths and abilities that can be leveraged to create positive change.
I have extensive experience helping children and teens navigate social, emotional, and academic challenges while also supporting college students and adults through important life transitions, career development, relationship concerns, and personal growth. No matter your age or stage of life, my goal is to help you discover the tools, resilience, and confidence needed to thrive.
Seeking support is a courageous first step, and you don't have to navigate life's challenges alone. I would be honored to walk alongside you as you work toward healing, growth, and becoming the best version of yourself.
I look forward to joining you on your journey.
"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just the way I am, then I can change"- Carl Rodgers

My Background
As someone who personally embraces a journey of mental and emotional health, I am
thrilled that you, too, value your own. Welcome to your greater!
When asked why I have chosen this field, I always respond with, “It chose me”. I was
chosen to enter my own healing process and then pursue higher education at Sam
Houston State University to professionally qualify my purpose. I obtained my Bachelor's
of Science (2005) and Master’s (2009) degrees both from the illustrious college. Since
that time I have developed my skill set by working with individuals, couples, and families
in a variety of settings that include outpatient psychiatric programs/hospitals,
Department of Family and Protective Services, and array of private practices.
I have been working in the field of mental health for 14 years. I have experience working with a diverse range of people and mental health disorders. My professional background includes experience in the inpatient, outpatient, and intake hospital setting; non-profit agency setting; and, most recently, private practice. This experience allowed me the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, adults, and families utilizing a variety of unique interventions including cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, eye movement desensitization (EMDR), and sand tray. I specialize in the treatment of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but I often take a client centered approach when building a trusting relationship with clients. Research shows that people who experience chronic mental health concerns have untreated trauma, which can occur from a variety of different experiences. Of course, trauma does not account for all mental health concerns, so it is important to be able to meet client's where they are at and provide interventions that are helpful to the individual needs of each client.

I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, and/or grief. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. Together, we will identify your challenges and goals - where you want your life to be a month, six months, a year from now. Then, we'll identify options and strategies you can use to get there. There will always be room for suggestions concerning our work together, including keeping each other accountable.
Counseling can foster personal development in whatever way you may be seeking and help build the life you so deeply deserve. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here when you're ready to share.
