Hi, I'm Aaron. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) working out of the state of Texas. I've been in the behavioral health field for over 13 years helping people of all ages overcome mental health struggles and substance use issues. I was called to this work because of my own struggles with depression and substance abuse; and, though I had to struggle in order to get where I am, I feel so grateful for my experiences. I have a passion for using mindfulness and compassion in my work and like to incorporate deep breathing and other body-based techniques whenever possible because, frankly, these are things that have worked well for me! I believe in the importance of helping you to understand the power of the mind-body connection in order to improve your relationship with yourself and the world around you. I'm a huge proponent of yoga and Brazilian jiu jitsu as healing arts and would encourage ANYONE to try them out.

You don't have to face your thoughts and emotions alone. Peace is possible, no matter your circumstances. Often, our perceptions cause more distress than reality itself—our thoughts, not our situation, can be the scariest part. As a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), I provide evidence-based tools proven effective in research and in my work with clients. By shifting thoughts and behaviors, we can transform your life and relationships. You don't have to remain a prisoner to unhelpful thinking—there are ways through it. CBT helps with anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, relationship struggles, and more. I'd be honored to support you in creating meaningful change.

Congratulations on taking the first step towards healing, despite feeling worried or unsure, perhaps even hopeful, despite misgivings. Choosing to change is difficult, and you are doing it!! With 26 years of practice, I bring professional expertise, personal understanding, sincerity, warmth and caring to your healing journey. Whether you’re navigating life solo or in a relationship, unresolved childhood trauma can quietly shape your patterns, reactions, and relationships. I help individuals and couples uncover those early wounds and start healing—through psychotherapy grounded in neuroscience and mindfulness. Because healing isn’t just talk; it’s nervous system deep. The body keeps the score, but you get to rewrite the story. Let’s create the life you were always meant to live. Not all therapies or therapists are created equal, as you know if you are still struggling with the same issues. Time for a change. If you want to feel better about yourself, confident, excited about life, build healthier relationships, and become your best self, welcome to creating your best life. Together, we'll integrate Mind/Body/Spirit approaches with classical therapeutic interventions tailored to your unique needs.

My goal as a therapist is to help men feel more seen, understood, and more connected to community. Together we will work on challenging how we view our role as men and how this view has affected our overall well-being. I want to explore with you, how you process the daily challenges of being a husband, a father, son or just a man. I know it's not easy, but you always make it work no matter how difficult. I aim to give you a space where you can discuss these challenges without feeling as if your complaining or being a burden. I can help you manage your stress by discussing tools that allow us to be honest with ourselves and how we feel. Yes! I'm talking about emotions. No matter how long we ignore them they still exist, bottled up and all. I want to help you share those emotions and thoughts out loud, guilt free! As a Christian therapist, I specialize in helping Black and African-American women who are struggling with anxiety, depression, anger management, life transitions, spirituality, and stress. There are times when we find ourselves on autopilot, in a state of being that is mundane, overwhelming, and monotonous. If you are feeling stuck and want more out of life, I'm here to assist with setting goals, overcoming limiting beliefs, and developing appropriate coping skills that will propel you forward in life. I use a combination approach that includes mindfulness practices, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused, and person-centered therapies. These techniques help with grounding and appreciating the present moment while identifying belief patterns that are a hindrance. My services are offered on an easily accessible virtual platform, making it convenient for you to receive the support you need from the comfort of your own space. I believe that seeking therapy is a courageous and empowering step towards improving your overall mental well-being. You have already taken the right step by seeking out a qualified therapist, and I want you to know that I am here for you. Together, we can work on creating a life that feels more fulfilling and aligned with your true self. Outside of my professional life, I value spirituality and the strength it brings to the healing process. I am passionate about helping my clients find balance and peace in their lives. If you're ready to embark on this journey towards better mental health, let's connect and start this transformative process together.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals with complex and high acuity mental health needs. My work is grounded in trauma informed and trauma responsive care, with a strong commitment to creating inclusive, affirming spaces for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent clients, and individuals in rural communities. I work across the lifespan, including children (7+), adults, older adults, families, and couples. My approach is collaborative and empowering, centered on the belief that clients are the experts in their own lives and require my clinical expertise. I often describe my role as “working myself out of a job” to help clients build the insight, skills, and confidence needed to advocate for themselves and navigate systems independently. As a trauma specialist, I tailor evidence based interventions to each client’s identities, needs, strengths, and goals. My primary approaches include Somatic Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)-(EMDRIA certification pending), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. I also integrate Internal Family Systems informed interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, exposure based strategies, mindfulness, and other approaches as clinically appropriate. I adapt treatment for neurodivergent clients and clients with intellectual or developmental disabilities because therapy should adjust to the person and not require the person to adjust to therapy. I am continually shaped by the courage, insight, and lived experiences clients bring into our work. Every advanced training, specialty, certification, and state license reflect lessons learned from clients. I carry their trust, stories, and influence into every session with gratitude and responsibility. Hi, I'm Dr. Joycelyn Anderson — but most people just call me Dr. J. I've spent over 16 years walking alongside people through the moments that reshape who they are: a big move, a new role, a strained relationship, a season of just feeling stuck. I started my career in K-12 schools and eventually opened Evolution of Life Wellness and Counseling, PLLC, because I wanted to work with people across every stage of that journey—not just one chapter of it. A few years ago, I relocated, and it taught me something I now bring into every session: change doesn't just rearrange your circumstances; it can quietly unsettle your sense of self. I know what it's like to feel like you're starting over, and I know that healing rarely happens in a straight line. I bring a whole-person approach to our work together—your mind, your body, your relationships, your faith, if that matters to you, and your story all belong in the room. I'll never ask you to leave parts of yourself at the door. My style is warm but direct; I'll walk with you gently, and I'll also tell you the truth when it matters. Outside of sessions, I'm someone who still believes in slow mornings and good conversation. I host a podcast called The Evolving Mosaic, where I talk about identity, belonging, and the beautiful, messy process of becoming. If you're considering therapy, I know that first step can feel like a lot. I hope that by the time we meet, it already feels a little less like starting with a stranger and more like continuing a conversation.

You can know that something needs to change and still feel unsure where to begin. Maybe you're overthinking everything, putting pressure on yourself to get it right, carrying experiences you've never fully processed, or trying to find your footing in a season of life that has changed you. Sometimes, even when things look fine from the outside, they can feel very different on the inside. I want therapy to be a place where you can let your guard down, make sense of what you're experiencing, and feel understood without having to explain away your feelings. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in trauma-informed care. I draw from evidence-based approaches to help you understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, build coping skills, and create meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Trinity University and my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Saint Mary's University, both in San Antonio. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). My additional training includes TF-CBT and TGCTA, and I am pursuing certification in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders to better support individuals through pregnancy, postpartum, and the transition to parenthood.

My therapeutic style is warm, relational, experiential, and direct. I use humor to help clients relax and feel at home where I can. One of the first skills I teach a new client is nervous system regulation. This is a gift that will pay dividends in the future. Somatic approaches are a nice place to start and helps clients to build skills in sitting with the hard moments, slowing down when needed, cultivating curiosity, and deepening their emotional experiences. I encourage self-compassion and self-love as explorations we can make slowly and together, and over time, clients find that this can become comfortable and even joy-inducing. I believe we’re called to grow and change when the strategies that once helped us survive and adapt start causing us problems. This doesn't mean we are broken or need fixing, not at all. In fact, it is those very skills that got you here, and we celebrate that. We might consider safe and tiny ways we can help move beyond old patterns of shame, guilt, people-pleasing, and self-judgment... and into a more authentic life that is a more rewarding, exciting, and consistent way of being who you want to be. Together we aim for more authenticity, more self-forgiveness and and self-acceptance as we work towards the life YOU want.
