Hello! My name is Max Croteau and I have had the pleasure of being a licensed professional counselor for almost 10 years now. In this time, I have been able to mold my style of understanding, accepting while also challenging and motivational into a successful model of growth and change for those who choose to work with me. I truly am a believer that therapy can sometimes be a side-by-side process, or it can be a process where one guides and the other follows, but ultimately the choice is up to you. I don’t want you to live a life that I tell you to live. I want to help you find a life that is truly a genuine fit for yourself and one that you can see yourself living without even having to think about it. I’ve specialized in addiction, OCD, trauma therapy, family and couples counseling and various other topics in the world of mental health. One important factor that I have found is that each person has their own individual story and their journey will be just as individualized. No matter how similar, we are all different. A cookie cutter approach to the rest of your life is not something that you will get from me. I will truly meet you where you are and work with you every step of the way to achieve the success that you are looking for. I always guarantee every person I work with that therapy may not be easy, but in the end, it will be incredibly worthwhile. I’d love to start and/or continue that journey. Growth has no final destination, just the journey. It’s up to you what path you’d like to take.

I am a Colorado and South Carolina Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with extensive experience working with: individuals in the midst of grief and other major phase-of-life transitions like divorce, job loss, legal challenges, etc.; teenagers who are struggling with a variety of mental health challenges; couples and families that are struggling to find common ground; and fractured families prior to, during, and after divorce. Building strong families, even through divorce or custody battles, incarceration, or other prolonged periods of estrangement, is a particular area of focus for me. I offer reintegration therapy services for parents and children who have experienced short- and long-term separation or alienation. I love working with families who want to find a way to function better post-divorce. In addition, I spent a decade working for the Alzheimer's Association, which included counseling individuals and families who were facing a diagnosis of dementia. Prior to venturing into the counseling field, I ran a non-profit that operated a 100-bed homeless shelter, a family transitional housing program, and an eight-unit supportive housing project for Veterans. I have a heart for working with military veterans and their families -- having 22 years of service in the US Air Force myself. I served on Active Duty for 6 years, and after a break in service, completed another 16 years as a Reservist. My spouse served alongside me, with each of us deploying twice. Our son is currently serving as well. Therefore, I have been the deployed service member, the spouse left to manage things back home, and the mom watching her "baby" deploy to far-off places. There is almost no part of military service I do not understand through first-hand experience.

Hello and welcome to your mental health therapy journey. You’re about to embark on a meaningful path of self-discovery, growth, and healing. I would be honored to walk alongside you. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with a deep passion for helping others navigate life’s challenges and uncover their inner strengths. Long before I earned my credentials, I have always felt I was a counselor. Formal training only deepened my understanding and sharpened my skills. Outside the therapy room, I’m a storyteller at heart and a collector of hobbies many of which involve craft projects I’ve enthusiastically started (and occasionally forgotten). Hi, I’m so glad you’re here. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW/LISW-CP) based in North and South Carolina. I earned my Master’s from Simmons University and have been practicing since 2018. Reaching out for support takes a lot of courage and curiosity—and I want to acknowledge that just by being here, you’re already taking an important step. Life has a way of creating all kinds of transitions. Some can feel like waves of excitement and full of growth and opportunity, while others feel overwhelming, unclear, scary, or just plain hard. I work with people navigating many types of life changes, including (and not limited to): grief and loss, caregiving burnout, medical diagnoses, changes in independence, identity exploration, and retirement. And with those changes often come things like anxiety, depression, loneliness, or feeling disconnected from yourself. My approach is holistic, somatic informed, and person-centered. That means we’ll focus on your strengths, your body and mind, your story, and what matters most to you as we work together to bring more balance, purpose, and joy into your life. You don’t have to go through it alone. I’m here to support you.

You wake up in the morning and wonder if today is the day you'll be exposed as a "fraud". Your twisting and turning on the inside. Everything inside you hurts. Your head is spinning with thoughts of what your life should be like. The voice's inside your head keep telling you you're a failure as a person, as a partner, and as a parent. You feel the the "weight of the world" pushing down on you. You're tired. You're tired of being tired. You are ready to reclaim your life. You are ready to make a change!

I help adults work through life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health challenges that may be affecting their relationships and goals. I have been in the mental health field for more than a decade and have been a licensed counselor since 2021. I am passionate about working with people to achieve breakthroughs in their lives, improve their understanding of what they need and want, and improve boundaries with those around them. Asking for help can push us outside our comfort zone, but that’s often where real growth begins. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore, heal, and grow. You don’t have to do this alone. (También hablo español.)

Lying awake at 3 AM while your mind replays everything that went wrong. Dragging through another day with pain nobody else can see. Worrying so much your chest is tight before your feet hit the floor. Feeling nothing where you used to feel something. You've tried pushing through it. Ignoring it. Waiting for it to pass. It isn't working. I'm Bryan Barry, a licensed clinical social worker with 25 years of experience. I help adults with insomnia, chronic pain, anxiety, and depression — problems that feed each other and rarely resolve on their own. Insomnia and pain don't respond to general talk therapy. They respond to specific methods, and those are the methods I use. Most people notice a real difference within the first few weeks. If you're ready to stop managing and start changing, let's talk. Evening and weekend telehealth in Missouri and South Carolina.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across the entire state. If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near your address.

Yes! If you use UnitedHealthcare Life Insurance you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have UnitedHealthcare Life Insurance you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
