I take a holistic perspective with my clients to address the health of body, mind, and spirit. I believe that a solid therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is a crucial part of the healing process, and that techniques and therapy approaches must “fit” the client in order to be effective—there is no “one size fits all” therapy. My goal, as a counselor and therapist, is to deeply understand my client, and when this happens we are able to identify areas of life that need to be changed, and ways of going about doing that. Therapy is a collaborative process between a trained therapist and a client who wants to change.
I love what I do, and I know why I do it. Since 2007 my focus has been coming along side of people and assisting them with challenges they face in life to become the most authentic and genuine person they were meant to be. In my own journey I've come to accept and appreciate the gifts I've been given, even if they're seemingly unrelated. I love my work as a therapist and I will always be passionate about performing music. How the two coexist within me is the journey I'm on. My focus has been in becoming a better therapist each day ... but I also know I'll never stop playing guitar and performing music, it's part of who I am.
It would be my pleasure to work with you! My name is Kim Sylla and I have been interested in the field of social services since childhood when I enthusiastically listened to the life stories of those around me including friends, neighbors and extended relatives. This interest grew with with my first therapist volunteer experience -- at the age of 20 -- with individuals who had substance use and mental health disorders. Since then I have had a wide array of additional volunteer and work experiences with adults and adolescents undergoing various life challenges at work, school, home and in the larger community. My varied experience, training and education prepared me to use an integrative therapeutic approach that draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and ecological systems theory.
I’m a therapist who works with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, relationship patterns, and life transitions. Many of my clients are thoughtful, self-aware, and high-functioning, yet find themselves stuck in cycles of overthinking, emotional overwhelm, or patterns in relationships that don’t feel fulfilling. You may understand why you do what you do, but still feel unsure how to change it.
In our work together, I focus on helping you connect the dots between your past experiences, current patterns, and the goals you have for your life. Through a collaborative and supportive process, we build both insight and practical tools so you can feel more grounded, confident, and in control. Over time, this work often leads to healthier relationships, improved emotional balance, and a stronger sense of self.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania with over 24 years of diverse experience in outpatient therapy with people ranging from age 3 to 86. After graduating from Chestnut Hill College in April of 2001, I quickly became experienced in trauma counseling by working with survivors and the victims' families of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Over the course of the last twenty four years I have pursued further training in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and I am a trained member of the Lehigh County "Flight Team" which is a team that travels to county school districts to work with students and staff that have experienced a crisis. In addition, to outpatient therapy, I am a high school school counselor. This position has provided me with opportunities to create programs that support students' mental health concerns, as well as, programs to support parents.
Approaches include cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, psychodynamic and rational-emotive strategies that will be tailor made to your needs. In addition to trauma, I have worked with clients on the following: Generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, life changes, parenting issues, body image, divorce, bipolar disorder, depression, work place bullying, self-esteem, empty nest syndrome, phobias, and sexual identity issues. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (PA & WV) with 10 years of experience in outpatient mental health. I specialize in supporting individuals — both adolescents and adults — navigating the aftermath of trauma, loss, adoption/foster care challenges, grief, anxiety, and depression. With children and teens, I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF‑CBT), integrating trauma‑informed strategies tailored to younger clients. With adults, I use trauma-informed interventions alongside cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), adapting my approach to each person’s unique story, strengths, and pace.
Being adopted myself has deeply shaped my passion for adoption and foster care work — not just as a professional interest, but from lived experience. I understand the layers of identity, connection, loss, and belonging that come with these journeys, and I bring that insight to my practice with empathy and sensitivity.
I also maintain ongoing training in areas such as grief work, anxiety, depression, and relational dynamics to ensure I’m bringing current practices to our work.

All behavior is purposeful. This means that we never do anything for no reason. Even when our behavior appears confusing or counterproductive to our values, our behavior has meaning and purpose. Therapy is a setting where we can gain insight about the origins of our perceptions, thinking and behavior. With clearer understanding, we are better equipped to identify factors within our control and consider alternative responses to our conditions. We gain awareness of the needs that are being met by potentially self-defeating thinking or behaviors and have a special opportunity to practice new thinking in the safety of therapy.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who obtained my degree from Marywood University’s Graduate School of Social Work. I completed my undergraduate education at Cedar Crest College, with dual majors in Psychology and Sociology. I have provided counseling in many settings including the geriatric, non-profit and healthcare fields, for over 18 years. I also hold post-graduate certificates in Gerontology, and Palliative/End of Life Care. I am pursuing my doctorate in social work in a program through Kutztown University.
I believe in building a solid therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy and respect using a variety of techniques, and building from a strengths-based perspective to help foster understanding, coping and change. My eclectic therapeutic techniques often include CBT, transformational and psychodynamic approaches, individualized in relation to each client’s need and provided through a trauma informed lens. I am experienced in individual, family, and group counseling.
It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. My hope is to provide a safe, nonjudgemental environment for you to discover yourself and to start on the road to healing. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!
Best,
Christina
