Hi There, Perrin here, If you are reading this short bio, I want to first congratulate you on the first step towards self discovery. I was born in The Bronx, NY which has inducted me naturally into a world that did not always make sense. I am mixed with African American and Native American heritage so this has allowed me to be both culturally sensitive as well as unbiased towards the human experience. I have a great appreciation for humanity which has led me to this field and assisting individuals in recognizing their innate abilities to push through tough challenges is my most treasured goal. My practice embodies the three core processes I have concluded to be effective during my 13 years of experience. These processes are; explore, grow, and maintain and through these processes, individuals will understand and explore where they have come from, growing through their experiences, and using the skills along the way in maintaining effective change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, we will gain an understanding as to your understanding of therapy. It can be based on prior therapy experiences or myths predicated by the world. Based off of the client’s initial mood, we may start with a short icebreaker just to get those creative juices flowing. During the first session, active listening will be employed to discuss the client’s reason for attending therapy and through validation, increasing their comfort within the therapeutic experience. We will collaboratively make connections based off of experiences within their lives to explore and verbalize presenting difficulties in order to gain perspective of how therapy can be both informative and rewarding.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have an innate desire to see the best in the individuals I work so I bring a unique style to therapy at times unorthodox, thinking outside the box, creative , innovative and humorous, but also goal oriented. I believe therapy should be a unique journey crafted and curtailed to the individual’s unique and special perspective of the world around them. I am at times structured when needed and eclectic when we just want to explore. I have a mixture of different styles that uniquely fit the needs of the individual so therapy is more creative instead of mundane. I offer a non-judgmental environment filled with free will, self expression, unbiased perspectives all interconnected to paint the picture the client wants, instead of goals crafted by the therapist. I use my keen sense to listen and validate the story of the client, adding humor into the mixing pot of the therapeutic experience where my clients can feel both welcomed and heard. I blend unique aspects of my personality with respect to the client experience of course to make therapy not only strategic and goal oriented, but fun as well. I want to learn about you and your story, based on interviews taken from our sessions instead of what’s written down on paper. I bring the utmost respect and care to the client experience maintaining my composure when you feel broken, while building you up so that you can recognize your potential and appreciate the skills life has taught you to not only survive, but thrive. My clients have walked away with greater purpose and zeal for life through empowerment, presupposition, support and most importantly, presence. Lastly, my approach teaches clients to not only address a challenge through acquired skills, but with the preparation and understanding that even though life can sometimes be tough, always remember that you can fight.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work wonderfully within empowerment. I truly believe every potential client has the ability to navigate their lives., its just at times things happen and a healthy reminder is sometimes needed. I have the utmost respect and allegiance with the human spirit and its ability to overcome. During therapy, clients will be able to redefine themselves by changing their perspective of challenges through my personal mantra “ difficult but doable”. I also assist with; issues of transition, self esteem/efficacy, depressive and self defeating thoughts, absolute thinking, cognitive errors/distortions and lack of motivation. Through empowerment, clients will walk away feeling stronger and attributing their success, not within the confines of the therapist, but within the reigniting of the human will.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilized this modality to empower clients by helping them recognize their ability to navigate through tough challenges they may face through the consideration of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how these variable are at times interchangeable and can impact each other. This understanding can both empower clients and lead them towards the path of maintaining mental awareness of their thoughts/feelings and how their either impair or positively impact behavior.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I utilized this modality in the respect and understanding of the client’s autonomy and sense of agency. By assisting clients with recognizing their innate ability to process their emotions and engage solutions, client’s will feel more in control of their actions and decisions and lest reliant on therapist directives.

Humanistic

I utilize this modality to allow the client to recognize their abilities by appreciating the human experience. In this modality, I provide reflection through active listening, unconditional positive regard, and empathy ,valuing the client experience and empowering them to make decisions geared to their individual desired outcomes.
