Andrew Covello

LPC (he/they)1 year of experience

You are welcomed with warmth, kindness, and respect. I am a humanist therapist, which means your recovery is yours to define, and it will come from your efforts with my support. We'll start by getting to know each other so I can understand your situation and get a feel for what it's like to face the challenges you face. Sometimes just being seen like that is enough; other times we realize we have some bigger work to do, and that's okay too. We approach it all with curiosity and gentleness.

First session

You are welcomed with warmth, kindness, and respect. We'll start by getting to know each other so I can understand your situation and get a feel for what it's like to face the challenges you face. Sometimes just being seen like that is enough; other times we realize we have some bigger work to do, and that's okay too. We approach it all with curiosity and gentleness. And you'll be able to guide us in this process according to your needs every step of the way! That's what person-cenetered therapy is all about.

Strengths

If you leave with more questions than answers, then we're doing it right. I don't try to be the expert; I love to be curious and learn new things. In therapy, you get to be the expert on yourself. Part of being a lifelong learner means always having curiosity. If we are to be the experts in ourselves, we have to be curious about ourselves. I'm always curious to learn from others' experiences, because everyone has seen something I haven't. Therapy is thus often the work of teaching people how to teach me what they know! So thank you for all the times you've shown genuine curiosity to yourself.

Ideal clients

Clients who benefit from working with me typically begin by feeling isolated or stuck. They might have ADHD or other neurodivergences, or just have a history of being "different" and misunderstood. Many people seem surprised at how comfortable they are talking to me, so you might seek me out if you've had some tough experiences starting therapy in the past. I don't shy away from tough stuff: stress, chaos, dysregulation, it's all okay. Working with me typically involves a lot of curiosity and thought-provoking questions alongside navigating your personal narrative, so the more curious you are the more you might benefit from working with me.

Treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My approach is rooted in the belief that you are the ultimate expert on your own life. I meet you exactly where you are with genuine curiosity, warmth, and zero judgment. I believe therapy should be a safe space to feel deeply heard and accepted. My role is to help support you on your journey, and help you find a way around the things keeping you stuck. When we need to get practical, we can blend this supportive, collaborative approach with DBT-informed coping skills for managing overwhelming emotions, setting firm boundaries, and navigating daily stressors.
