I’m a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to helping high-functioning individuals navigate trauma, relationship challenges, overthinking, and the stressors of everyday life. My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a holistic, spiritually-informed perspective (not tied to any religion), creating space for both practical tools and deeper personal insight. I aim to support clients in finding clarity, balance, and lasting healing.
Welcome, you found me on your journey. I consider myself a therapist who identifies as unconventional. I can be messy and loud, but my work is to help you be authentically you and stop fitting into the world's boxes. I am open-minded and quirky and like to work with people who have struggled to "fit in".
My journey to mental healthcare
Started a long time ago, as a child and possibly in utero. From a family of caregivers. I have always been a healer and worked at age 16 as a peer mentor and worked my way through my associate's degree in social work, to then taking a break to start a family. I now have my master's and am ready to help others reach their goals on their journey.
The great poet Rumi wrote "out beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing, there is a field. I'll meet you there." That field is a space where calm, love and forgiveness exist. There is no judgement, only acceptance here. And in that soul space you are free to find those fragments of you that are lost, and begin to piece them back together.
I'm licensed in both Florida and Michigan. As a licensed clinical therapist and licensed substance abuse counselor, I have experience running very powerful substance abuse and co-occurring groups. Prior to that, I worked as a social worker in Flint, Michigan for many years as a therapist, caseworker and in crisis intervention. My experiences have given me such a rich experience and exposure to the many factors that contribute to our personal mental health and well-being. I've been fortunate to work with people in their homes, in the community, with their families as well as the private practice setting which have given me a much richer experience than just an of an office setting alone.

My name is Steven Ward and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been a therapist for over 10 years and an intermittent therapy participant for 30 years. I believe in therapy and its ability to help others become their best selves. I have known since the first time therapy made a significant difference in my life, that I wanted to devote my life, time, and energy to serving and helping others by becoming a therapist. I received an undergraduate degree from Spring Arbor in Management and Organizational Development and utilized this to work my way through my Masters in Counseling, also from Spring Arbor University. I have worked with adults at all stages of life, and with more than a decade of experience I have learned strong, evidence-based treatments that offer concrete help. My style works to create relationships that center on the importance of trust, kindness, and mutual learning. I believe that as a therapist, I have just as much to learn from you the client, as you would from me. I use this approach to create an environment where compassion, mutual learning, and a strong focus on what each client desires for themselves and their life is key. We can then create change without the work feeling burdensome or boring, but instead graceful and collaborative. As stated above, I have faith in the therapeutic process and will bring my considerable knowledge, talents, and compassion in helping you become the best self that you desire to be.
