Hello, I provide counseling (generally under 12 sessions) for clients looking to raise awareness, identify ways forward, and work to practice small to large changes that will lead to improved well-being. In sessions there is time and a safe space to clarify thoughts and feelings, learn mental health management skills, and plan for mental health and wellness. Possible topics to cover include clarifying thoughts and feelings, general mental health questions, dealing with life transitions, and dealing with chronic illness. I am not licensed in treatment of substance abuse or addictions. I do not do court related work. Adults only.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During a first session your issues and goals are clarified and general history is reviewed. We will take time to understand what supports your current health and well being and the obstacles to feeling well and on track in your life. Sometimes counseling can be solution focused but sometimes a person needs to find a way of understanding what's wrong, or why they feel as they do, before they can improve on identifying and planning for their mental well being.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Counseling with an experienced professional to improve mental health and wellness. Guidance in clarifying thoughts, feelings, and psychological needs. In an encouraging environment and in support of client goals, identifying and planning practice of small to large changes in thinking patterns, emotional regulation, and/or behavior change. I have extensive experience with individuals dealing with anxiety, chronic illness, life transitions, and a need to understand what kind of changes are within their reach that would make the greatest positive difference in their life. My style of counseling is to be interested, interactive, respectful, direct, encouraging, and sometimes humorous.
