Hey! I am Renata. If you are here, you are probably contemplating change. My favorite quote is "tradition is the enemy of progress." There will not be sustained change without addressing potential problems in the way we have traditionally approached our circumstances. If you are open to stepping outside of traditional patterns, you may be ready for a journey of change.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Provider/ Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Florida. I graduated with a Master in Clinical Social Work (MSW) from Florida Gulf Coast University. Before my studies at FGCU, I was in the rental business and felt that I was in my calling when I did volunteer work helping people in the US and abroad. After much thought and consulting with family and friends, I decided I wanted to work more hands on helping hurting people through counseling. My philosophy is ultimately to make a difference in the world by helping hurting people.

Building great relationships is one of the most meaningful aspects of life. Hello future client! My name is Ruthie and I'm one of those rare native Floridians. My primary practice approach is relational, using interventions that can help you understand the link between your thoughts, feelings and actions and the effect on your relationships. This will improve your ability to connect with others in ways that will enhance your life. I want to support you to have the loving, fulfilling, respectful relationships you deserve. In my graduate program, I learned that all human behavior develops in the context of relationships. Family relationships are most significant to individual growth. The importance of healthy relationships in a successful life is often underestimated. The value of independence in our society overshadows our human need for connections. The quality of our family, friends, romantic, work and community connections impact our physical, mental and emotional health. Positive interactions promote feelings of connectedness and a sense of self-worth while negative encounters can lead to increased anxiety, a lack of self-confidence, and may even affect your thinking abilities. I earned a BA in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from University of South Florida in 2009 and obtained a Master’s in Social Work from the University of New England in 2016. I proudly became a licensed therapist in 2020, one good thing that occurred during the Covid pandemic.

Instead, it’s a way to gain a comprehensive understanding of what you’re going through. I will meet you genuinely interested in where you’ve been and what’s happening. Thank you for taking time to learn a little about me. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Addictions Professional with over 25 years of counseling experience in clinical, private and educational settings. I practice Client-centered therapy. For those who are unfamiliar with Client-centered therapy it is based on the practice that the CLIENT is best able to decide what to explore and mark as a goal of treatment. I empower all my clients without compromising empathy. Whatever the reason any individual, couple, or family comes to me, I challenge their skillset to solve problems and restore resolve; not simply provide short-term solutions. The first step to achieve this is to build a rapport with essential empathy and unconditional positive regard. I believe in relationships. Seems a little elementary but one's physical, mental, and overall wellness is dependent on relations that we have with each other. No matter how large or small one's family is, and/or social circle we were all meant to establish and grow relationships. No level of true self-reflection would escape this fact. I witnessed this to be true in all of my clients as with myself. I currently reside Central Florida with my wife, son, and three daughters. As a family we enjoy an active lifestyle supportive of one another and the family dynamic. I welcome the opportunity to work with you, feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

I will do my absolute best to ensure our sessions begin and end on time. However, due to the nature of this career, there are occassions where I may be delayed with another person to evaluate for additional interventions (therapists are mandated reporters in Florida). Please keep this in mind when considering mental health services. If delays do occur, I apologize in advance. I will make sure you receive the best therapeutic services possible.

From the outside, you look like you’ve got it all together ... but it feels like a totally different story on the inside. You may be fed up with constant worries and sadness, feeling overwhelmed or on edge. You might not even remember a time things didn't feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you're ready for some relief. You're ready to feel calm. You're ready to feel grounded and at peace with yourself. Most of all, you're ready to rediscover your true confident self. Let's throw political correctness out and get down to business, cut through the BS, and help you solve your problems.

We can have difficulties after experiencing a traumatic event. At times, we can feel numb, depressed or unable to regulate our emotions while navigating through life. For parents, it can be overwhelming for children dealing with behavioral issues and/or emotional problems. You are not alone! Here at Helping Hands, clients experience trauma healing through the word of God. As a trained therapist, I empower my clients by navigating them through their traumas and unpacking the cores of their trauma. I help my clients with tools that they can apply according to the word of God. During this process of assisting my clients, I guide them to receive healing through Christ. My counseling modalities are Christian Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Play therapy. I work with children and adolescents with emotional trauma, PTSD, depression, and oppositional defiant/ behavioral issues. I work with adults (females only) with unresolved childhood trauma, anxiety, sexual abuse and depression. I am a Master's Level Licensed Mental Health Counselor with training in Trauma Work.

My journey towards becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist began in 2004 when I received my B.A. in Theater from Southern Connecticut State University. Knowing it was my passion to creatively help others, I began teaching children in diverse settings including preschools, elementary schools, community centers, homes, and camps. I was introduced to Drama Therapy and Expressive Arts Therapy as an Early Childhood Educator and never looked back! As I continued working with children, families, and parents of all backgrounds over the years, I found myself becoming more intrigued with their social/emotional dynamics as opposed to the academics of the profession. My realization led me to The Chicago School of Professional Psychology where I pursued my M.A. in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Marital and Family Therapy. Since then, I’ve had many incredible opportunities to gain experience through the roles of a School Counselor, Program Therapist, Private Practice Owner, and Group Therapist. Through these experiences, I've grown immensely as a therapist by expanding the populations I work with and the specialties I’m able to offer.

You are here hoping to find that therapist who stands out to you because you want to find someone who can help you. The search can be overwhelming for some. Most of the profiles of therapists are going to say similar things. Most of which should be standard like brakes on a car. I cannot promise I'm the right one for you. Here is what I can tell you about my approach. I believe in being practical which means I will not use a lot of psycho-babble or fancy strategies. I have a tendency to be blunt. My wife says I'm the "bluntest politest man" she has ever met. I'm going to be real with you. I love couples/marriage counseling, and that is my main focus. However, about half of my clients have always been individuals. Some people just need a place to vent. Others need help solving a problem, and most people need a little of both. I know therapy might be a little intimidating or even scary to some. Try to think of it as a massage for your brain. It's a place where you can say whatever you want guilt-free.

Welcome! I'm {Emmanuel Nzuzu}. I want to thank you sincerely for reaching out to me. Congratulations for taking this crucial first step towards bettering your mental health because, let's be honest - starting therapy can be empowering, confusing, or scary, all at the same time. I strive to create a safe, structured, and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore challenges and obstacles with concerns related to alcohol and drug addiction, stress, anxiety, depression, and/or self-care. I focus on helping clients to regain control by taking back their power from alcohol and drugs. I facilitate client transformation by assisting them to learn how to be guided by a vision of the future and not memories of the past. My clients often find it beneficial to develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. Counseling can foster personal development in whatever way you may be seeking and help build the life you so deeply deserve. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here when you're ready to share.
