New to Grow
I believe that change happens when people are given the proper guidance and tools needed to pursue their goals while also giving them the autonomy to pull on their own strengths and qualities that will get them to the finish line. I provide clients with a space full of compassion and support to help them overcome obstacles and move forward in life. My therapeutic experience mostly consists of services provided to adult and adolescent clients struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, family conflict, and stress related issues. I tailor various therapeutic modalities such as, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, Positive Psychology and Motivational Interviewing according to the client’s individual needs and wants. I believe that everyone is entitled to pursue and live a fulfilling and happy life. I believe that a large part of wellness is having healthy, meaningful relationships, not just with others, but with ourselves.
Our first session will be used to get to know each other. I believe that the therapeutic experience is most helpful when the client is aware of what they are about to get themselves into. I will introduce myself, discussing my background and therapeutic methods. I will cover policy and procedures, review assessment details, and discuss what you are seeking to gain from our time together.
Strengths that I bring to my sessions include, holding space for you to process emotions, challenging you in your thinking, and encouraging you to become your better self no matter how hard the journey may seem. Change happens when we are honest with ourselves about what is missing in our lives, and what we need from ourselves and others. I am willing to work together building skills that will help you move forward in life.
I am best positioned to serve those struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, family conflict, and stress related issues such as career difficulties, control issues, and life purpose questioning. My therapeutic experience mostly consists of services provided to adult and adolescent clients in multiple settings including, high schools, juvenile detention centers, county jails, and community health centers. I believe that everyone is entitled to pursue and live a fulfilling and happy life. I am willing to work with those clients trying to figure out how to achieve such a life.
When using CBT, I like to simplify it by using the 3Cs: Catch it, Check it, Change it. These step help the client recognize patterns of thinking that may not be so helpful in pursuing a happy, healthy life and gives room to change those patterns.
Motivational Interviewing is used in my sessions as a collaborative, person-centered counseling style that helps clients resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation they need to change their behavior.
Psychoeducation helps the client learn more about their mental diagnosis, symptoms and treatment options. I use psychoeducation as a tool to empower clients by providing clear, evidence-based information to help them understand their condition, build coping skills, and actively manage their recovery.
Rather than dwelling on the past or analyzing the root causes of problems, I use Solution Focused Treatment to focus on identifying a client's existing strengths and building actionable, personalized solutions to help them move forward quickly.
