Hi, I’m Anakarla. If you’ve been feeling anxious, stuck, hard on yourself, or unsure of who you’re becoming, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to sort it out by yourself. Many of the people I work with are used to “holding it together” on the outside, while quietly feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or questioning their direction on the inside. I’m a Latina therapist who believes therapy should feel warm, supportive, and rooted in real connection, not clinical or distant. My approach is collaborative and person-centered, which means we move at your pace and work together as a team. I see you as the expert of your own life, and my role is to help you make sense of your experiences, gently challenge what’s not serving you, and support you in building a life that feels more aligned and fulfilling. Our work together is a mix of reflection and action. We’ll explore patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and relationships, while also building practical tools you can use in your everyday life. I often incorporate approaches like CBT, ACT, DBT, and mindfulness, but in a way that feels natural, not overwhelming or overly technical. Think of it as creating a toolkit that helps you not just cope, but feel more grounded, confident, and intentional in how you live. I also believe healing doesn’t always have to feel heavy. When it feels right, I bring in humor and lightness to help you feel more at ease and human in the process.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, so our first session is really about helping you feel comfortable. We’ll take time to get to know you, what’s been weighing on you, what’s important to you, and what you’re hoping for. There’s no pressure to share everything at once. You can go at your own pace, ask questions, and get a feel for whether this space feels right for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I work best with individuals who are becoming more aware of their inner world and are ready to explore it more deeply, even if they don’t have everything figured out yet. Many of my clients are navigating: Anxiety or overthinking Self-doubt or low self-esteem Life transitions or feeling “stuck” Relationship or attachment patterns Identity exploration and wanting to feel more like themselves They’re often thoughtful, self-reflective, and motivated for change, but may feel unsure where to start or how to move forward. They don’t expect perfection, they’re looking for insight, growth, and a stronger sense of self-trust. I tend to be a good fit for clients who are open to reflection and willing to gently explore their patterns over time. If you’re looking for very structured, directive therapy with quick, solution-only strategies, or need specialized support for severe or acute conditions that require a higher level of care, I may not be the best fit, and I’m always happy to help guide you to someone who is.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy serving individuals who are beginning to become more reflective, noticing patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and relationships, and feeling a desire for change. They may struggle with anxiety, self-doubt, life transitions, or relationship dynamics, but they are open to exploring these experiences, in a collaborative, supportive space where they can be both challenged and deeply understood. They are motivated by alignment, they want their life to feel meaningful, grounded, and true to who they are. Whether they are navigating self-esteem, attachment patterns, stress, or identity development, they are willing to engage in the process, even when it feels uncomfortable. They don’t expect perfection; they’re looking for progress, insight, and a deeper sense of confidence and self-trust.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a compassionate approach that helps you make space for difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them. It gently guides you to connect with what truly matters to you and take meaningful steps toward a values-aligned life, even when things feel uncomfortable. ACT is empowering, and focused on helping you live more fully in the present moment with self-compassion and purpose.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical approach that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we gently notice unhelpful patterns and learn new ways of thinking and responding that feel more supportive and aligned with your values. CBT is collaborative, empowering, and focused on giving you real-life tools you can use every day to feel more balanced, confident, and grounded.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-centered therapy is a gentle, supportive approach that honors you as the expert of your own life. It offers a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can feel truly heard, understood, and accepted just as you are. Through genuine connection, empathy, and trust, this approach helps you reconnect with your inner strengths and grow in ways that feel authentic and empowering.
