Hi! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Florida. I received my Masters from McGill University. I have been practicing for 25 years. I help couples, individuals and adolescents address various issues such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, communication challenges, conflicts, grief, divorce, relationship break up, parenting, and blended families. I look forward to working together and supporting your growth and well being.
In our first session together, we will discuss what brings you into therapy and your specific challenges. In addition we will address any of your questions and concerns. Together we will create a treatment plan for follow up sessions.
I have worked with couples, individuals and adolescents for the past 15 years and helped them to achieve their counseling goals. They have gained greater self understanding and learned new skills to identify unhealthy patterns. With increased self understanding you will make great strides forward to overcoming your challenges.
I enjoy working with couples who are experiencing poor communication and emotional distance. My clients are motivated to improve but are lacking in their communication skills and problem solving skills. They are feeling frustrated and stagnant in their relationship. I renew their hope and optimism in having a great relationship.
CBT is a structured and goal oriented therapy approach that focuses on changing patterns of thinking and behavior to improve emotional well being. The client is educated about CBT principles and how thoughts, feelings and behaviors are interconnected. The client is helped to recognize and challenge negative thought patterns that contribute to distress.
I use ACT to encourage my clients to embrace their thoughts and feelings instead of fighting or feeling guilty for them. Clients learn core components of Acceptance, Cognitive Defusion, Mindfulness, Values Clarification and Committed Action. The benefits of ACT is that it reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression & encourages a more meaningful and fulfilling life by aligning actions with values.
This therapeutic approach is used to help my couples improve their relation by addressing areas of conflict by learning effective conflict resolution skills and communication skills. The key components which are addressed are: Relationship dynamics, exploration of emotions and needs, reinforcing positive interactions and communication skills training. I create a supportive environment that fosters healing and growth for couples.
I use this treatment method to help my clients improve interpersonal effectiveness and emotional dysregulation. This supportive environment empowers my clients to develop essential skills to manage their emotions and relationships effectively.
I use Grief Therapy to help my clients cope with loss and navigate the complex emotions associated with grief. The core components of grief therapy are: Understanding grief, creating a safe space, exploration of feelings, memory and legacy work and developing coping strategies. I create a compassionate and supportive environment that empowers my clients to work through their grief and begin to heal.
