Having been married for 50 years and raised four children to adulthood, I bring a wealth of life experience to the therapeutic relationship. There are so many challenges with marriage and raising a family, undergoing therapy myself (both individual and couple) has helped me through many difficult times, and I know what it takes make significant changes in my life. I love animals, and i have two dogs who bring me joy every day. My children and seven grandchildren are very important to my life. One of the benefits of being an older therapist is that I have overcome many of the obstacles that my clients face, and for even those I have not experienced, my clients benefit from the life skills I have developed.
I have a lot of life experience and had several careers before becoming a therapist, and I have traveled extensively. There isn't much I haven't seen or at least heard about. I try to provide a calm, nonjudgmental atmosphere for clients so they can feel free to say whatever is on their mind. Believe me when I say that if you've done a thing or thought about it, someone else has too. You are not alone.

I am in my second marriage for 30 years now, after my 24-year first marriage failed. We have seven children between the two of us, 31 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. I have had good success counseling couples who have given up on their relationship, especially those who have experienced infidelity. I don't counsel children until they are 18. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals, families, couples, children, and adolescents from diverse multicultural, socioeconomic, and international backgrounds. I have the expertise and a passion for diversity and global and cross-cultural issues. My specialties include working with immigrants and refugees and addressing acculturation, adjustment, and traumatic experiences. My other areas of interest, skills, knowledge, and competence include assisting individuals, families, and couples to cope with racism and microaggressions. I assist individuals with mood disorders, anxiety, relational issues, substance abuse and addictions, and post-traumatic stress disorder, amongst others.
I believe in each individual's strength and resilience and in helping to promote resiliency to facilitate healing and growth. I believe in working collaboratively with individuals, couples, and families to identify meaningful goals and services. I incorporate cultural factors and life experiences that shape everyone. I also try to include a holistic perspective on health and address underlying relational and familial issues that impact clients.
I am trained in Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PET) and Family Systems, and use mindfulness and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) interventions. In addition to traditional therapy modalities, other key frameworks that inform my therapeutic approach and beliefs include Trauma-Informed Care and Global Psychology.
I am an LCSW (License Clinical Social Worker) with over 19 years of experience in the field of mental health and I have been licensed since 2010. I have worked in crisis behavioral health hospitals with both adults and adolescents, outpatient community mental health clinics and in hospice. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, navigating a difficult situation, or looking for healthier ways to cope, we'll work together to identify your strengths, develop practical tools, and create a path toward healing and personal growth.
My approach is collaborative and tailored to your unique needs, recognizing that every person's experiences and goals are different. I believe that meaningful change happens when clients feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood. My goal is to help you build resilience, improve emotional well-being, strengthen relationships, and gain confidence in navigating life's challenges—one step at a time.

My hope for you is that therapy becomes a useful tool to transform your life into how you envision it to be. Life is too short not to be lived out to its fullest potential. By working with you, I hope to collaborate in a transformation process where life goals come to fruition. As your therapist, I am your advocate and will support you in all areas where challenges, obstacles and barriers are encountered. I hope this message finds you well and instills a sense of hope that anything, if one’s mind is put to it, is possible to change for the better.
