When it comes to the therapeutic experience, my treatment motto is “therapy is a collaborative journey.” In treatment, the client or the patient sets the pace for treatment. As a clinician, we are trained to meet our patienst and clients where they are, currently, and provide services as appropriate. I always use this analogy when introducing how treatment will proceed to clients. I explain to clients that the therapeutic journey is like a road trip. They are in the driver's seat. They are setting the pace. They are deciding the route and the destination. All I do, as their therapist, is hold the GPS, suggest alternative routes when needed, and set the music.

My journey into therapy began with a deep curiosity about human resilience and the desire to help others find strength through life's hardest challenges. I'm a firm believer in the powerful role that therapy can play in alleviating distressing symptoms, facilitating positive growth, and increasing functioning in all areas of life. I value clear, open, and direct communication to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment. I practice active listening and will be an empathetic partner to help you accurately self-reflect. When difficult topics arise, I'll help you deeply understand yourself in the conflict.

I am a holistic psychotherapist who supports women in transition for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it is anxiety that will not settle, worry about a child, a marriage that feels strained, grief, or a body that keeps asking for attention. Sometimes they want a more holistic perspective, or they may have tried medication and felt blunted by it, no longer feeling much, including joy. Others are struggling with emotion in a way that is new for them, overwhelmed and crying more often, and they need a place that can meet that without rushing them past it. We start with whatever brought you through the door. Spirituality is welcome here. It is part of how I listen, and part of how I live. For some women a loss opens that door. For others it is a health scare, an emergency, or a season where the life they have been living suddenly feels too small. Sometimes the spiritual questions come later, once the room feels safe enough to tell the truth. You do not have to arrive with those questions. I meet you where you are. I hold this work with honor, respect, reverence, and care for all of life and for all paths. I am here to hold space for your journey, not to hand you mine. In our sessions we stay grounded in the day you are actually living, the work, the family, the next thing that needs you, and we also leave room for meaning, for soul, and for the questions that sit underneath the symptoms. I would be honored to see whether we are a fit. I offer telehealth in California, Massachusetts, and Arizona.

Welcome to Dr. Mitchell’s Safe and Brave Space I began my career in social services in 1995, working with children, youth, and families often labeled as “at-risk”—many of whom were impacted by substance use, poverty, child abuse, and neglect. Over time, my commitment to equity and justice led me to the field of social work, where I continue to center the person-in-environment perspective and actively support antiracist policies, ideas, and actions. This work is grounded in an acknowledgment that we live and practice on the stolen lands of Indigenous peoples, and that much of the wealth and infrastructure of this nation was built through the unpaid labor and enduring suffering of enslaved Africans. I honor these histories and their ongoing impact as part of my commitment to justice, healing, and collective liberation. I am deeply committed to self-awareness and reflective practice, both personally and with those I serve. I walk alongside clients on a healing journey rooted in self-care, resilience, and transformation. I integrate narrative therapy and other evidence-informed approaches through the lens of intersectionality to remain fully person-centered. My practice pays particular attention to the impacts of trauma and race-based stress on one’s inner world. As appropriate, I incorporate Feminist Theory, Queer Theory, and Liberation Psychology to support healing that honors identity, lived experience, and systemic context. I welcome all who value peace, healing, and justice to join me in this space—to try, to grow, and to be.

I have had the opportunity to work in and gain knowledge from a diverse collection of settings that include elementary, middle and high school, hospital chaplaincy department, private practice and private agencies working with families in the child welfare system. Each of these settings has provided me with hands-on experience working with individuals and families in crisis, as well as those who are faced with navigating some of life’s challenges such as divorce, loss, and addiction. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I love a systems approach, understanding that we do not exist in a vacuum, but rather are part of larger systems. Together we will establish goals and design a path towards a healthier way of being. I draw from a multitude of therapeutic techniques that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solutions Focused Therapy. Clients who work with me have a desire to change. Whether facing everyday challenges that are holding them back from living a fulfilling life or struggling with family dynamics that have caused distress or trying to navigate through grief, my clients can learn to use their insight to find new ways of functioning that better serve what they want from this life. My clients can see a future for themselves that brings peace, happiness and healing. The first step towards seeking help is often the most difficult. Welcome. My name is Tannaz Talasazan, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I invite you into a supportive, collaborative space where feelings are processed, thoughts are heard, perspectives are respected, and meaningful change becomes possible. Life can present challenges that feel overwhelming, especially when we don’t always have the tools to navigate them. Reaching out for therapy is a powerful first step. Together, we will identify emotional patterns, relational dynamics, and internal obstacles that may be holding you back, while working toward insight, clarity, and lasting change. Over the past 13 years of training and clinical experience, I have worked with individuals, couples, women, families, adolescents, adults, and older adults, with a focus on relationship concerns, life transitions, conflict resolution, and crisis management. I especially enjoy supporting couples in strengthening communication and connection, helping women and individuals navigate personal growth and identity, and working with older adults as they process life transitions, relationships, and meaning. My therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to each client’s unique needs. I draw from Family Systems, Psychodynamic, Solution-Focused, and Narrative therapies, carefully matching each approach to support insight, emotional growth, and practical change.
