Hello! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California. I received my Masters from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and have been practicing for about 8 years. I have past experience working with clients in crisis intervention, foster care, adoption, disabilities, suicidal ideation, and anxiety. I help adolescents and young adults struggling with everyday stress and past trauma to help them feel more comfortable with themselves.
In our first session, I want you to feel welcomed and at ease as we get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, and I’ll ask some questions to understand your experiences and goals. I’ll explain how Trauma-Focused CBT can help, and we’ll go over what the process will look like. Most importantly, this is a time for you to share what feels comfortable and to ask any questions, so we can start building a foundation of trust as we begin this journey together.
With my extensive experience across areas like crisis intervention, anxiety, foster care, adoption, disabilities, and suicidal ideation, my greatest strengths as a provider include resilience, adaptability, and a deep understanding of complex, sensitive situations. I bring empathy and patience to each session, allowing clients to feel understood and supported, especially when dealing with heightened distress. Additionally, my experience with varied backgrounds equips me with the skills to create a safe and nonjudgmental space for clients, enabling them to navigate challenging emotions and build effective coping strategies
I love working with clients who want to safely explore and process past traumas. Together, we’ll look at how these experiences may still be affecting you today, and we’ll work on ways to reshape the impact they have on your life. I use techniques to help you build healthy coping skills, so you feel more in control and resilient in facing challenges. We’ll also focus on establishing boundaries—both with yourself and others—that honor your needs and protect your well-being. My goal is to help you heal, grow, and ultimately feel empowered in shaping a fulfilling, balanced life.
Erin Brown offers therapy covered by Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Health Plan of San Joaquin - Medi-Cal, L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
In our sessions, I use Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to help you process and manage the effects of trauma. We’ll work together to identify thoughts and beliefs tied to your experiences, and I’ll guide you in reshaping these thoughts to reduce distress. Throughout the process, we’ll build coping skills, learn relaxation techniques, and work on strategies to feel safer and more in control. My goal is to create a supportive, structured environment where you can work through these challenges at your own pace.
