I’m Laura, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner dedicated to holistic, patient-centered care for adults facing mental health and substance use challenges.
I became a psychiatric NP to help break the stigma around mental health. I believe mental health conditions are just as real as physical ones—and because the brain affects how we think, feel, and function, symptoms often show up in misunderstood ways. I'm passionate about helping you understand your mental health and feel confident managing it. Outside of work, I enjoy being outdoors, going to spin class, watching documentaries, listening to audiobooks, and spending time with my dog and loved ones—moments that keep me grounded and reflect the balance I hope to help you find. Whether you're navigating difficult emotions or making decisions about medication, I’m here to support you every step of the way. You don’t have to do this alone.
First session
In our first session, you can expect a welcoming, judgment-free space to begin sharing your story. I’ll ask questions to understand what brings you in, the challenges you’re facing, and your treatment goals. We'll review your mental health history, past or current medications, and what has or hasn’t worked for you. By the end, we’ll start forming a plan—whether it involves therapy, medication, or both. Most importantly, I want you to feel heard, understood, and supported.
Strengths
My greatest strength is building genuine, trusting relationships with clients. I strive to create a space where people feel respected, seen, and supported. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care that considers the whole person—mind, body, and environment. I value a holistic approach and work collaboratively to explore what healing looks like for each individual.
Ideal clients
I work best with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts or behaviors, mood instability, trauma-related symptoms, attention or focus difficulties, sleep issues, substance use concerns, and experiences like paranoia or hallucinations. I offer a collaborative, nonjudgmental space for people who are ready to better understand their mental health and are genuinely committed to feeling better—whatever that journey looks like for them.
Treatment methods
Supportive
I use supportive therapy to create a space where patients feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted. My goal is to meet people where they are, offering encouragement, validation, and practical support as they navigate life’s challenges. Together, we work on building insight and finding coping strategies that feel realistic and empowering.
Motivational Interviewing
I use motivational interviewing to support patients in exploring what's holding them back and what truly matters to them. Through open-ended questions and reflective listening, I help them feel understood while gently guiding them toward changes that feel right and meaningful in their lives.
Psychoeducation
I use psychoeducation to help patients make sense of what they’re experiencing and feel more in control of their mental health. By breaking down diagnoses, treatment options, and coping tools in a clear and relatable way, I aim to empower patients to feel confident, informed, and actively involved in their care. I also address the stigma often associated with mental illness, helping patients and their families understand that these conditions are medical, not moral, and encouraging open, judgment-free dialogue to reduce shame and promote healing.
