LMFT, 6 years of experience
A solid therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes in therapy. I am glad that you are seeking more information to see if we might be a good fit to work together in meeting your goals. I will keep it brief as some clients prefer to know very little about me. Others seek more information...so if there are any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I was born into a large midwestern family. After high school, I headed to the east coast where I attended the United States Naval Academy. Upon graduation from the Naval Academy, I was commissioned into the Air Force where I served 8 years, to include assignments within the United States and and a deployment to Iraq. After my time in the military, I began my second career as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I gained all my pre-licensed hours at 'The Place Within' a non-profit counseling center in Roseville, California under the direction of Gary Henderson, LMFT and Krysta Dancy, LMFT. My family (4 school aged children & husband) and I reside in Northern California.
In our first session we will be gaining an understanding of what brought you into therapy and work together to see if we are a good fit for treatment. Toward the end of that first session we will collaborate on goal setting and treatment planning. It is important that clients feel empowered in their treatment, and that starts with the client feeling comfortable enough to determine if I might be a good fit for them (and I can refer to another grow therapy talk therapist, if not!).
I strongly believe in the power of the human connection and have seen beautiful healing, change and growth in that space. I am truly honored to join and walk with clients on their path to healing, new insights, change and/or growth.
I love working with any client who has taken this huge first step of seeking treatment. Clients who are motivated to change their current situation to one that aligns better with what they want out of life are a particularly good fit. Generally clients who are looking to engage in therapy sessions once a week or every other week will be a good fit for my practice.
Attachment based therapy helps us go deep into your healing journey. This approach allows clients to experience different feelings and emotions in the therapy session that they are then able to seek out/replicate in their every day lives. This treatment is often combined with more tangible/skills based treatment in order to help the client meet their goals whilst doing the deep inner work to effectively heal.
I use cognitive proccessing therapy when working with some clients who are engaged in trauma treatment. This multistep approach allows me to meet the clients where they are at with their trauma process, gives us a frame work for treatment and often resulted in positive outcomes.
