About me

I have a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University. I have an undergraduate degree in English at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts and have a PhD in English Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have training in DBT, RO-DBT, ACT, and attachment-focused therapy modalities. I also have trained with the Affirmative Couch in working with LGBTQ adolescents and adults. I have completed EMDR training through HAP International. I work with clients of all ages, including clients with depression and anxiety, eating disorders, postpartum depression, self-harming behaviors, clients on the autism spectrum, and clients going through a divorce and engaging in co-parenting. I also work with clients who have experienced narcissistic abuse from family members or a partner.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

While the first session can have more questions as it is the intake session, I hold space for clients to process and explore what they want to work on in therapy. I practice Carl Rogers' concept of unconditional positive regard for clients, and have an open, accepting, non-judgmental approach when I meet with clients.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my biggest strengths is a wide variety of life and work experiences, including having kids (now young adults) on the neurodiverse spectrum and working in community college settings, community agencies and group practices. I also have considerable experience working with individuals with eating disorders in outpatient, IOP and PHP settings.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am open to working with many clients, but I have the most experience in working with clients with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and clients in times of transition like divorce, grief, career changes and parenting.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I frequently use DBT concepts and techniques in my practice, as DBT can be very helpful for a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and self-harm.

Compassion Focused

Self-compassion is something we all struggle with, but the research has shown that it can be very powerful in reducing depression and anxiety, and improving body image.
