Hello! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), with degrees in Psychology and Children, Adolescent, and Family Studies, as well as a masters in Counseling Psychology. I believe that everyone has the ability to grow, and I work with my clients to gain a meaningful skill set, while honing in on their own unique strengths, in order to cultivate lasting change.
In our initial session, we will begin with introductions and establishing a comfortable atmosphere of communication. I will then gather information and any necessary documentation, while reviewing with you goals and expectations of therapy. Moving forward, we will work collaboratively towards desired goals and outcomes, while maintaining flexibility to accommodate the ever changing challenges of life.
I have experience working with adolescents, teens, and adults, addressing a variety of concerns that impact daily living and quality of life. Through personal therapy of my own, along with extensive education, I have been able to gain insights from each side of the therapeutic experience. I believe that clients are the experts in their own lives, and I can empathize with the ebbs and flows of the growth process.
I love working with clients who are motivated to change, and have the willingness to commit to the path to do so. They want something different for their lives, even if they know what that looks like. My clients are open to learning new tools and perspectives to initiate growth.
Stephanie David offers therapy covered by Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Health Plan of San Joaquin - Medi-Cal, L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
I take a very client centered approach in practice, valuing a genuine and authentic therapeutic relationship. I believe this is necessary in order to cultivate safety and openness within each unique individual. I utilize mindfulness techniques to practice being present with the self, while encouraging healthy exploration in various ways. I recognize that everyone’s processes and experiences differ greatly, and I remain diligent in being flexible to the needs of each client. I draw from various treatment modalities including DBT, psychodynamic, attachment, trauma informed care, & CBT. By using this integrative methodology, I work collaboratively with clients to build insight and awareness into their experiences with negative maladaptive thoughts, feelings, and behaviors impacting daily life.
