Hello, I'm Theresa. Are you feeling overwhelmed with daily tasks or feel like every day is just like the last? Are you having family or relationship issues or intimacy problems? Do you question what your purpose is, worry about what life will bring next, or wonder what life would have been if only you had made different decisions or followed an alternative path? Have you suffered a loss that you can’t quite get over? I am passionate about helping people become empowered to live their best lives possible. By encouraging self-awareness, I assist my clients in making choices that align with their personal value system. I am committed to helping people live in the present and appreciate the grace of each day as it unfolds, knowing that challenges in life can perpetuate change and provide an opportunity to reach our true potential.
Hi, I’m Dr. D.
I help high-achieving professionals, executives, healthcare workers, first responders, ethnic minorities and indigenous people who are often successful in their careers but feel stuck or dissatisfied in other areas of life. Many clients struggle with burnout, trauma, anxiety, depression, or recurring patterns that interfere with work, relationships, or daily routines. I know what it feels like to face these challenges—and I bring both personal insight and professional expertise to help you get unstuck and reclaim your life.
I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, an MS in Applied Psychology, and an MA in Professional Counseling. My integrative, trauma-informed approach combines Psychodynamic therapy (PD), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). This approach helps clients identify unhelpful patterns, leverage existing strengths, and implement actionable strategies for real-world, lasting change.
I take a direct, no-nonsense approach, ideal for clients who are ready to take action immediately. Therapy starts in the very first session—you’ll leave with clarity, insight, and actionable steps toward personal growth, healing, and wholeness.

I love life even when it is difficult, uncertain, and unpredictable. I experience it as a precious gift and live in constant awe of the quiet miracle of existence. I believe in hope, believe in kindness and compassion, and hold an essentially optimistic view of the human spirit. As a practicing professional, I am continually moved by the beauty and depth of psychotherapy. The psyche remains a mystery that can never be fully captured, and yet it endlessly inspires me. I am a quirky and challenging therapist who graduated from Northwestern University with a Masters in Counseling Psychology in 2014. Having worked extensively in partial hospitalization, therapeutic schools and private practice settings, I combine practical skill based solutions to increase emotional regulation alongside relational work to reshape the past.
I provide individual adolescent and early adulthood trauma and gender affirming therapies in addition to IEP consulting, college preparation and parent coaching.
I have been involved in the industry since 2017, beginning with an internship at a school-based counseling program in Milwaukee. During this period, I developed skills in advocacy and adaptability to meet client needs. In 2023, feeling exhausted from frequent school transitions, I commenced my doctoral studies in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior (currently ongoing) and enrolled in an adult developmental course. I became deeply interested in the subject matter and decided to transition from school-based services to providing telehealth support for adults. While I continue to work with children, my primary focus has shifted toward adult clients. My preferred aspect of this role is the opportunity to serve clients across Wisconsin in the comfort of their homes.
My hobbies are playing and watching softball, watching BananaBall, reading, and crafting.
I believe healing begins with understanding. Many of the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that bring people to therapy are not signs of weakness or failure—they are often adaptations that developed in response to difficult experiences, stress, or adversity. While these patterns may have helped you cope or protect yourself at one point in your life, they can sometimes create challenges in relationships, work, and overall well-being.
My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and collaborative. I strive to create a space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered to explore their experiences without judgment. Together, we will work to understand not only what is happening in your life, but also why certain patterns may have developed and whether they continue to serve you today.
Earlier experiences in my own life taught me that adversity can shape the way we view ourselves, others, and the world around us. Through these experiences, I developed a deep appreciation for how the mind and nervous system adapt to help us navigate challenges. The mind is designed to prioritize safety and survival, and many of the symptoms people experience are understandable responses to difficult circumstances rather than character flaws. While these adaptations may have been necessary at one point, healing often involves learning new ways of responding that better support the life you want to build.
I work with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, and self-esteem concerns. My goal is to help clients increase self-awareness, build resilience, strengthen boundaries, and develop practical tools for lasting change. Together, we can help you better understand yourself, reconnect with your strengths, and move forward with greater confidence, flexibility, and self-compassion.
