New to Grow
I have over 15 years of experience serving diverse communities across the lifespan in the Milwaukee area. My work is grounded in a deep respect for culture, lived experience, and the resilience of individuals, families, and communities. As a mother of two and a dog parent, I understand firsthand the complexities of balancing caregiving, identity, and personal well-being. I bring both clinical expertise and lived experience into the therapy space, creating a supportive, affirming environment where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. I am passionate about working with people from all walks of life and am especially committed to culturally responsive care that honors each client’s unique story, strengths, and goals.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session together, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive space focused on getting to know one another. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to gain from our work together, and any immediate concerns you’d like support with. This session is also a chance for you to ask questions and get a feel for my approach to therapy. I’ll gather some background information to better understand your experiences, relationships, and strengths, while being mindful of pacing and comfort. There is no pressure to share everything at once—therapy is a process, and we move at a pace that feels right for you. By the end of our first session, we’ll begin identifying goals and next steps, and you should leave with a clearer sense of how therapy can support you. Most importantly, my intention is for you to feel heard, respected, and supported from the very first conversation.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strengths as a therapist include my ability to create a warm, affirming space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and respected. With over 15 years of experience working across the lifespan and with diverse communities, I bring a depth of clinical skill paired with cultural humility and responsiveness. I have a strong ability to build trust and rapport, particularly with clients who may feel hesitant, guarded, or unsure about therapy. As a Black woman, mother, and caregiver, I bring lived experience that allows me to deeply understand the intersections of identity, family, culture, and systemic stressors. I am thoughtful, grounded, and collaborative in my approach—balancing empathy with gentle challenge to support meaningful growth. I help clients identify strengths, develop practical coping strategies, and gain insight into patterns that impact their well-being. Above all, I am committed to honoring each client’s story while empowering them to move forward with clarity, confidence, and resilience.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I enjoy working with individuals that are thoughtful, self-aware, and ready to engage in meaningful personal growth, even if they are unsure where to begin. They may be navigating life transitions, stress, relationship challenges, identity exploration, or the emotional weight of caregiving, work, and family responsibilities. Many of the clients I work best with value authenticity and are open to reflection, honest conversation, and culturally responsive care. They may come from marginalized or diverse backgrounds and are seeking a therapist who understands the impact of culture, race, family systems, and lived experience on mental health. I work best with clients that are motivated to build insight, develop healthier coping strategies, and deepen their connection to themselves and others. They are looking for a therapeutic space that is supportive, affirming, and collaborative—where they can feel seen, respected, and empowered to move toward greater balance and well-being.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT has been one of the core modalities in my practice from the beginning of my career. I use CBT to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and then develop concrete strategies to change unhelpful patterns. Across my roles—as an outpatient therapist, behavioral health consultant in primary care, and clinical supervisor—I’ve applied CBT with children, adolescents, adults, and families. My work includes cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, exposure-based work, coping-skills development, and strong psychoeducation. Because I’m trained in Trauma-Focused CBT, I’m able to integrate trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate approaches for youth and families experiencing trauma. In primary care, I often use brief, targeted CBT interventions to support medical teams and help patients quickly build skills. As a supervisor, I teach clinicians how to conceptualize cases using CBT, how to document CBT-based interventions, and how to apply the model ethically and effectively. Overall, CBT is a flexible and empowering framework that helps clients gain insight and build lifelong tools for change.
