I am a psychotherapist who works with a diverse population of people. My goal is to collaborate with individuals to assist them in achieving their therapy goal(S). My treatment modalities are cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and Ericksonian hypnotherapy approaches. Although I used these modalities, I do not use a one size fits all approach. I am a think-out-of-the-box clinician that will often challenge clients to try approaches that may be out of their comfort zone. Some examples of my experience include working with individual clients on developing skills in coping with mental health conditions/diagnosis, life stress, finding balance, and improving self-esteem. Although I use these approaches, my clients tell me it feels like we are having a conversation as opposed to feeling like they are in a therapy session. I have a specialization in working with Veterans, LGBTQI, men, and people of color populations. However, I work with all people who are seeking mental health services. I am licensed in DC (LICSW), VA (LCSW), MD (LCSW-C), and PA (LCSW). I have BS in Human Ecology, BA in Humanities from The Ohio State University, MSW from San Jose State University and Post Masters fellowship in mental health from Stanford University.

If this is you then I am the right person to come and see. I am open to helping anyone, but see a lot of patients that have issues with the aforementioned three issues. I utilize a person- centered approach and use cognitive behavioral therapy, solution- focused therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I love watching client's achieve their goals for therapy, like helping people, and watching the relief it often brings them emotionally, mentally and physically- to be able to get some things off their chest that they may have been carrying for a number of years. I believe in caring, empathetic, and having being nonjudgmental of the client. I hope that knowing this comforts you and puts your mind at ease in starting your therapeutic journey.

Hi there! I am Brazilian and I graduated in Psychology almost 20 years ago - do not do the Math! =) I have been living in the USA since 2014 and I obtained my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2018. I specialized in working with LGBTQIA+ folk, most specifically transgender and non-binary (go They/Them!). Since then, I have expanded my practice and have enjoyed working with folk navigating grief, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and other various mental health symptoms. I provide therapy in 3 languages: English, Portuguese and Spanish. I am a Certified Grief Informed Professional and also a Trauma specialist. *** I unfortunately do not work with couples, so if you are seeking couples counseling, I am not a good fit. - I will be out of office from May 1st-May12th. If you'd like to work with me and do not mind the wait, please copy and paste this link on your browser: https://growtherapy.com/book-appointment?id=16083&utm_source=provider-sourced&utm_medium=booking-link&utm_campaign=provider-dashboard

I am a licensed professional counselor in Virginia with 12 years of professional work experience. I hold a BA in psychology, MA in clinical psychology, MA in educational leadership, PhD in counselor education and supervision, and a DBA with a focus in management. When I work with clients, listening to understand instead of hearing to respond is a priority. I believe it is imperative that I develop a sound understanding of my client's subjective worldview to meet them where they are and disrupt maladaptive thoughts and patterns of behavior. My objective is to collaborate with my clients in order to help them identify, address, and resolve matters that reinforce and/or contribute to their presenting concern(s). I have experience in helping clients with relationship issues, trauma and abuse, & motivation, self-esteem, and confidence, anxiety, adjustment issues, college and career readiness, couples, depression, family dynamics, gender identity, identity development, LGBT+, non-traditional relationships, men's issues. In our work together, I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!

If someone asked you not to think for 10 minutes how hard would that be? Is overthinking about the “What Ifs” driving you to relentlessly check things over and over again? Are you determined to find certainty in an uncertain world? Do you frequently ask others repeatedly if something or someone is going to be OK? No matter how much you do a task or say a particular thing does peace of mind elude you? Does the compulsion to handwash, re-read, double check, pray, or re-arrange items never provide lasting relief? Do you find yourself burdened by intrusive thoughts that strike against your will and preoccupy your mind for hours a day? OCD is characterized by unabating obsessions matched with intense mental or behavioral rituals to relieve the anxiety provoked. It is not treated by “talk therapy” but with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Through customized gradual exposures, ERP is an evidence-based method of intervention to reduce the severity of OCD symptoms. ERP is a collaborative and creative approach to learning new skills and strategies to become comfortable with uncertainty and more confident in your ability to handle life’s unexpected challenges. My style is compassionate, client centered, and culturally sensitive. What to do if you’re nervous about sharing your thoughts with me in therapy? If you're too embarrassed to share something, you can write it down, you can use visuals, you can type it. We can work around this to find other ways that you can deliver the communication. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, Hawaii, Indiana, Massachusetts, and Virginia. Registered Out-of-State Telehealth Provider in Florida, South Carolina, and Vermont. My treatment focus is on neurodivergent issues, gifted learners, managing life transitions, women’s mental health issues around shifting roles in family and career, and immigration/re-entry adjustment stressors.

Hello, I am Dr. Young. Life is full of colors. Light or dark, each has its unique quality. The secret to becoming successful in playing the game of life is to change from the inside out. We live to move forward, and it requires us to be more and do more. Resilience is an innate human capacity. In my view, everyone is capable of self-healing given the proper guidance and provided with supportive conditions. With a cultivated healthy sense of self, solutions appear with the clarity to think about what you desire in life, not what you cannot or don't have. In tough water, even good swimmers might struggle. If you have dreams and hopes, I can help you to pick up new skills going through the waves of life. Let's work together!
