My goal is to help you find your inner strength, bounce back from hard times, and build better relationships. Are you getting angry more often and have trouble getting along with coworkers? Do you do things that seem like a quick fix but don’t really make life better? If these things sound familiar, then the good news is that you don't have to keep doing it alone. Please note: Because of my role at the University of Houston (UH), university policy, as of Sept. 2025, prevents me from providing private counseling services to current UH students or UH alumni. This policy applies across all University of Houston campuses and programs. Hello and welcome— I’m Helen, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of what’s next, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity. I’m not here to fix you or push an agenda—I’m here to walk alongside you as we make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences together. Many of my clients wrestle with perfectionism, anxiety, or a quiet sense that something’s off, even if they can’t quite name it. Through gentle conversation and thoughtful questions, I help you uncover patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and reconnect with your strengths. We’ll explore what’s working, what’s not, and how you can begin to shift toward a version of life that feels more honest, meaningful, and sustainable. Therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical or intimidating. It can feel like exhaling. Like clarity. Like finally hearing your own voice again. I look forward to meeting you.

I approach clients with the an open mindset, looking to explore what the client needs and what they want for themselves. I always want my clients to know there is no judgement from me in their decisions, EVER. I view everyone's mistakes as us just being human and having a human experience. This practice of examining our human journey and what motivates us to do the things we do is extended to myself, my clients and my children/family. I often attempt to have the practice of asking myself "why did I do that? Did I do that because of this or because I was feeling blank?" I think it is important to help others get to the place where they ask themselves the same type of questions. We're all here just having human experiences!

Hello! I am Wendy Theriot,MA,LPC. I spent years specializing in trauma-focused therapy and have worked in the private practice setting as well as treatment facility setting. This year I have taken a break from in-person therapy where I specialized in EMDR to more of a person-centered approach addressing men’s issues, as well as working mainly with with First Responders, Veterans, Active Duty personnel as well as couples. I guide the client in the direction of healing or self actualization incorporating Cognitive Processing , Jungian therapy and Attachment-Based therapy. “Jungian”refers to the psychological doctrines and analytical therapy developed by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. It helps to uncover hidden forces driving human behavior by integrating the conscious and unconscious mind, ultimately striving toward authenticity and personal wholeness. Attachment Based therapy is a form of counseling that explores how your early childhood relationships with primary caregivers shape your adult attachment style. In addition to individual therapy I have worked with couples using the Gottman Method. It is a structured, research-based approach to couples therapy developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman. It aims to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy and respect, and remove barriers. If you are seeing me through an EAP or have a limited amount of therapy sessions I also do Solution Focused Brief Therapy where we don’t look at the past as much as we look towards the future and what you want to envision. With my help you can get there.

I am a Christian Clinical, Forensic and Sports Neuropsychologist. Like many folks who get into the mental health field, I had certain mental health challenges. My family of origin was burdened with addiction and mental health. I currently have 40 years of sobriety and am intimately familiar with 12 Step, Christ-centered and Mindfulness aspects of recovery. I specialize in the treatment of Trauma and Addiction with family systems and attachment orientation. As a trained child psychologist I also place particular emphasis on developmental aspects of trauma. As a former Navy psychologist with many years working with veterans and first responders, I am very familiar with those cultures. I played college soccer, run 20 marathons, taught scuba as well as being an award winning underwater photographer and competed at the CrossFit World Games for 3 years. I am married, have a son (retired Navy) and a daughter in heaven.

Recognizing the need for help is an important first step. In fact, rather than acknowledging a weakness, it is a sign of strength. I want to help you to build on that strength to achieve success in the areas you are struggling with. Specializing in relationship dynamics, I invite individuals, couples, and families to improve communication, resolve conflict, and build skills to manage anxiety, depression, grief, loss, and more. Christian counseling, men's issues, and family roles are additional areas of special focus I provide. I believe in personal responsibility, the reality of options at your disposal, and your ability to make decisions that are good for you with clarity. Ownership results in liberty. I would be working with you to help things make more sense and see a path forward.

I believe in not just giving ok treatment, but the best available. That’s why I love matching your needs with the best type of therapy that’s also backed up with research to definitely be able to help you. With that, you’re still the expert on you and your life, so you bring your experiences and I’ll bring my knowledge, and together we can figure out how to help you figure out how to get exactly what you’re wanting in life. I specialize in working with anxieties, depression, trauma, as well as with teens and parents. I’ve worked with kids most of my life in one form or another doing therapy, mentoring, and teaching English abroad. Whatever is bothering you I’m here to help. LGBTQ friendly. Whatever it is, let me help you, and if there’s something I don’t have the proper expertise in then I also have no problem admitting that and directing you to someone who can help so that you don’t have to waste your time.
