I’m a licensed clinical social worker practicing in Houston, Texas with extensive experience in mental health treatment across diverse populations, especially ethnicity, gender, age, religious, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status. My journey in the mental health field began during my undergraduate studies, where I first became involved in victim advocacy. This experience deepened my understanding of social dynamics, (in)justice and human behavior, leading to dual bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Women’s Studies. While pursuing my graduate degree, I worked at the National Domestic Violence Hotline, further honing my skills in crisis intervention and critical thinking/problem-solving . After earning a Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin, I completed a post-graduate fellowship focused on psychiatric rehabilitation of veterans with severe mental illness. I further advanced my clinical skills when joining The Menninger Clinic staff, where I spent five years specializing in the treatment of business professionals facing mental health crises, young adults navigating the transition into adulthood, and clients experiencing severe mental health challenges, including suicidal ideation. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, after recognizing the urgent need for increased access to mental health care I established my private practice, Therapy by Ivy, PLLC. Since then I have offered individual telehealth sessions to adult clients seeking to improve their mental health and enhance their lives. In 2023, I expanded my practice to include in-person sessions while continuing to provide telehealth sessions. Based in the Houston Heights area, I am proud to offer flexible session options, accept most major insurance plans, and self-pay sliding fee for the uninsured or underinsured.

Like you, I have had my own set of challenges and believe the key to overcoming life's obstacles is learning to plan and cope. We can't control all the pain that will come our way, but we can control how we react to it. Of course, this is sometimes easier said than done and we need help. My name is Elizabeth and I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the states of Texas and Arizona. I am also a certified school counselor and transitioned to full-time mental health counseling after working as a high school counselor. I have been working as a counselor for 10 years, primarily in the school setting. I helped my students with issues such as family problems, academic struggles, relationship issues, trauma/abuse, ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, grief, and suicidal ideation. Before working as a counselor, I was an elementary teacher for 6 years. I have experience working with adults and adolescents. I love seeing my clients understand themselves better and improve their mental health. I feel comfortable counseling people from a variety of backgrounds, especially those whose backgrounds are different than my own. My entire professional career has been spent with a primarily Hispanic population, but I am comfortable with other cultures, as well. I am a big fan of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Solutions-focused therapy, but I try to cater my counseling to each client, so I often incorporate different counseling philosophies as needed. I believe my clients are the experts on their own lives and I want to work with them to improve their contentment, coping skills, and mental health. I believe it is important and beneficial to have a nonjudgmental, unbiased person to talk to. This is one of the best parts of counseling. I often use humor to lighten the mood when counseling. I find this helps grow my relationships with my clients. Congratulations on making the first step towards getting help. I would love to work with you.

I chose to change careers late in life. It has been a wonderful decision. I am able to help people in their daily lives be happy. I attended SMU Counseling Program in Plano from 2010 to 2013. I was privileged to complete my practicum and internship at the Resource Center in Dallas. I requested this opportunity so I could help as many people as possible. This was not standard procedure, but I was allowed to do the unusual. I believe clients simply want to be happy. They want to make their choices in life without guilt or shame. Everyone deserves that freedom. I hope that I can help people facilitate that life. I am happy to share techniques that provide acceptance that allow people to not be impacted by the judgmental world in which we live. Please give me a call and see if we connect and if you feel comfortable and safe speaking with me.

Warm greetings to the Grow Therapy community! My counseling journey began in 2019, inspired by a deep commitment to helping people navigate life’s challenges and discover their inner resilience. I hold a Master of Science in Licensed Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing, which allows me to bring both clinical expertise and creativity into my work. I specialize in supporting individuals facing depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, self-esteem challenges, personality disorders, substance use, and eating disorders. I also work with clients navigating career transitions, parenting struggles, and codependency. My approach is holistic, compassionate, and trauma-informed. I integrate evidence-based therapies such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy. Through this integrative lens, I help clients regulate emotions, reframe unhelpful self-narratives, and cultivate healthier coping skills. Mindfulness practices support clients in staying present and grounded, while Narrative Therapy empowers them to rewrite their stories with hope and clarity. Above all, I strive to create a safe, supportive space where healing feels possible. My goal is to provide care that is not only effective but also tailored to each client’s unique needs. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and together we work toward clarity, confidence, and lasting growth. Outside of my practice, I enjoy time with my family and pets, exploring the outdoors, and expressing creativity through writing and photography.

Hello, I am an LCSW and have been in practice for 30+ years. I have worked in multiple settings and have learned that no one goes through life without challenges. Sometimes those challenges become overwhelming, and we find ourselves full of anger, fear, anxiety, confusion or deep sadness. You are not alone in this. If you are seeking therapy for the first time or have been in therapy before, please know that this is a safe place for you. All of us want to find a place of peace and joy in our life, but sometimes it feels like we are lost in a forest. I want to help you find your way out of that, to recognize your own path. I have a strong belief that we are in a constant state of change and adaptation in life and the secret is to realize and own our personal power. Peace is accomplished through balance, boundaries and new beginnings; those three work together and empower you. I look forward to helping you begin this next step of your journey and to find your power in that.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who blends clinical precision with genuine human connection. I don’t believe therapy should feel distant or scripted, it should feel intentional, focused, and grounded in real conversation. I’m engaged, attentive, and not afraid to ask the thoughtful questions that move us past surface level insight. Clients work with me because I balance warmth with direction. I’ll validate your experience, but I’ll also help you challenge patterns that no longer serve you. When appropriate, I bring a grounded sense of humor and authenticity into the room, because meaningful work can still feel approachable. If you’re looking for therapy that is purposeful, collaborative, and designed to create lasting change, you’ll find that here.

Hello, I was born and raised in Stockton, California. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and in 1997, after 25 yeas of service, I retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Marine Corps, I worked as a Farrier (Horseshoer), as well as a structural welder (Ironworker), as those were the most marketable skill that I had. I came to a point where old injuries came back to haunt me and I could no longer walk (several years later, thanks to a surgery through the VA, I can walk again; thankful for that). At this point, I changed professions and out of a desire to work with veterans, I returned to school, accomplishing all that was necessary to become a licensed counselor. I spent another career working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically as a counselor in the Readjustment Counseling Service (Vet Center). I recently retired from the Vet Center and now I work part-time here with Grow Therapy. As a retired Marine senior staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) and disabled combat veteran myself, the Vet Center was the perfect job. Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling to combat veterans and provide counseling to survivors of military sexual trauma (MST). Vet Centers also provide group counseling, bereavement counseling and couples counseling when this is determined to be of support to the veteran. Readjustment counseling many times consists of treating/addressing symptoms related to post-traumatic stress (PTSD), I.e., anxiety, depression, exaggerated startle response, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, etc. Many veterans go on to work as first responders and working with many first responders as well as medical personal, has provided me with a great deal of additional experience.
